Hi Everyone. I hope you're all enjoying this gorgeous fall weather. We have lots of great events coming up that I wanted to share with you.

Here's the rundown:

Saturday, October 10th, 9-5 (come for however long you like), JP
Workday at the JP Greenhouse
Learn About Passive House Construction with the PTbeamBuilding Team from Placetailor. Volunteers are needed to work in both the house and the garden, whichever you prefer. Andree and Ken will provide pizza and drinks (around noon), good company, all the tools you need, and a sense of satisfaction! Experienced builders and gardeners and amateurs both welcome. Passive House tours at 9am and 1pm. Please rsvp to: [address removed]

Saturday, October 17th, 4:30-6:30pm, Inman Square

The Monthly Seasonal and Local Foods Potluck
The monthly potluck is really at the heart of the Urban Homesteaders' League. It's the time where we get to touch base, hang out, and share delicious food. This month we'll be at Outpost 186, a great music venue and gallery in Inman Square.

Sunday, October 18th, 9am-6:30pm, Roxbury

2009 Massachusetts Relocalization Conference
A day of information, inspiration, sharing, speakers, panel discussions, workshops, tabling, great local food, music, fun, and transformative action. Bill McKibben, Frances Moore Lapp?, and Mel King will be the keynote speakers.

Saturday, October 24th, 10am-2:30pm, Cambridge
HEET Weatherization Barnraisings

Attend a weatherization party to fix up a neighbor's home. Learn how to save money and reduce carbon emissions by decreasing the energy use in your own home.

Sunday, October 25th, 11:30-1:30pm, Brookline
Lacto-Fermentation and More with Urban Homesteader Jill Ebbott

$10.50 (the fee covers materials and you'll go home with something you've made.)
This will be a demonstration workshop that will cover the making of sauerkraut, lacto-fermented soda, whey, kombucha, homemade mayonnaise, and enzyme-rich salad dressing and beet kvass. Not only are these nutritional superfoods, they're also delicious. This is a great opportunity to learn from someone who is very experienced in making and teaching about these foods.

Monday, October 26th, 7:00-9:15pm, Central Square
Medicine Making at Wild Carrot Herbs

Herbalist Mischa Schuler (and UHL member) will be leading this. You'll be pressing out tinctures, starting new tinctures, blending teas, or making salves. Everyone will go home with something you've made.

Keep your eye on the website! There might be some last minute additions to the month.

Also, I'm looking for people to lead workshops and skillshares in the coming months, so if you (or someone you know) is interested, please get in contact.

I hope to see you all at an UHL event soon!
