Hi,

I want to start a vermicompost and was wondering if anyone knows where I could get the worms for that - ideally local?

I appreciate any suggestions :-)

The Somerville Growing Center might be able to sell you some. They had them at their vermicomposgting workshop this spring--$10 for a quart yogurt container. That is plenty to get you started.

I've been doing worms for about a month. I am amazed at how fast they multiply if you provide them with plenty of garbage. I also recommend the book "Worms Eat My Garbage". It doesn't give you much on making a cheap bin, but is full information about the worms themselves, from what the eat to how they reproduce.

If you can't find worms let me know and I could part with some of mine.
