We've assembled a panel at the newly opened ReFactory in Gowanus. We'll discuss the balance of prototyping, customer discovery, and funding in the search of product-market fit.
5:30 networking & food
• Tom Kennedy or Ben Gebhardt (ReFactory, our hosts) - collectively they bring electrical engineering experience from aerospace, audio systems, energy, and certification testomg. They met at EnergyHub, co-founded by Tom, and both have a wealth of experience with manufacturing in the US and China. This year they have brought PCB assembly to NYC!
• Stuart Heys (Manufactory) - Some people buy a new car out of college, Stuart bought his first piece of shop machinery! He runs a robotics and prototyping shop now co-located with ReFactory. He can also give you the low-down on SBIR grants in action...that's non-dilutive federal $$$.
• Nepal Asatthawasi (NY Designs) - Weaving economics, architecture, and life in five countries before she was 17, Nepal is active in interdisciplinary development and strategic development for design firms and start-ups. She'll also fill you in on what's going on with the incubator and fabrication at NY Designs in Long Island City.
• Industrial Design - TBD
• Formation, Valuation, and Funding - TBD
TBD - "Tentative But Dynamic"
See you there!
