My approach is holistic. It embraces complexity and is grounded in ecological principles. My aim is to create multi-stakeholder relationships to deliver mutually-beneficial solutions to socio-ecological systems.
I am currently engaging in conversations with leaders of local governments and urban communities to explore how to regenerate the places within which we inhabit.
From a local government/technology perspective, I find open-source data initiatives quite interesting. Approaches such as Smarter Local Government (SLG) and Cognitive Digital Democracy (CDD) currently developed by my colleague Mark Dixon (http://thedigitaldruid.org) could be game changers. From an urban planning/design perspective, the concept of ecodistrict is interesting. I wish there would be more integrated approaches to developing urban solutions that focus on addressing social, ecological and economic issues.
I am a freelance practitioner delivering transformative change and regenerative design and development services. I was trained as an architect; worked 10 years in IT; founded Soma Integral Consulting with a mission to address adaptive challenges.
