Urban Tech SF Message Board › Foraging
San Francisco, CA
Thank you to everyone who participated last night in the inaugural Urban Tech SF meetup!
The passion and high-level of interest in creating sustainable progress was overwhelming (in a good way). A conversation that started out as a vision for re-imagining the current grocery store model evolved into a conversation about urban farming and utilizing public open spaces as food forests to bring the activity of foraging back to urbanites. We will continue the conversation on May 16th when Wendy Fong and Connie Yeh present POPOS (Privately Owned Public Open Spaces). Together, we will discover ways to utilize technology to make these spaces more accessible to urbanites. And who knows, perhaps these oases will become the future sites of burgeoning food forests.
We also got the 4-1-1 last night from Tanya K of Runway on the Backyard Conference and efforts to revitalize mid-Market St in collaboration with private entities like Twitter, Yammer, and One Kings Lane. If you want to help get the word out about Backyard Conference, drop Tanya a line at firstname.lastname@example.org. They are looking for people in the Design Thinking and Urban Planning community to participate in, and facilitate, the Backyard Conference event in late June (specific date TBD).

Thanks again, and see you in May!
