April showers bring May flowers but the August Perseids bring potentially death dealing meteorites screaming across the heavens! If we’re going to go, wouldn’t you rather be camping with some of the finest folk you’ve ever met!? This extra special “catch a falling star” camp-out at Palomar Mountain State Park will give us a chance to contemplate the heavens, hike a beautiful trail or two, frolic in the meadows, and consider just how swell a planet we live on!

Here’s the scoop and maps for Palomar Mountain State Park…

We’ll also pay a visit to the Observatory…

We’ll be camping at Group Site Number One in the Cedar Grove Group Camp Area at Palomar Mountain State Park. There are a few group sites in this area, so look for us and signs for UA. Your admission into the park should be covered by the fact you are camping, so tell the rangers at the entrance that you are part of the Kennedy Party for the Cedar Grove Group Camp. We have a limit of 10 cars, so carpooling is highly recommended. Overflow cars will have to stay overnight in the parking area, and we will shuttle you back to the campsite if needed.

Depending on fire conditions, we may or may not be able to have a campfire, but we will have a great observation point for the big show in the sky!

A special menu and games will set the vibe, and we’ll have some of the extra-terrestrial inspired light-painting props we enjoyed at the Integratron, as well as some wonderful new ones.

This adventure will include dinner and wonderful desserts from nearby Julian, pie capital of Southern California! We'll also have a simple breakfast on site. BYOB if you intend to see your own stars. Please bring a little something to share when we connect up around lunch time for a mellow meet-and- greet picnic.

The park is lovely and has many different hikes to enjoy. There is a little fishing area, so bring your rod if you like.

Since this is a big time for astronomy lovers, the park will be extra full of telescopes and viewing devices, and you might want to bring your own.

To be sure that everyone gets a thrill even if it is cloudy, the giving folks of UA will have a special surprise for all of those in the park, as we build yet another UFO for the fun and enjoyment of our camping neighbors!

Come meet the meteorites in a delightful setting and share in some intergalactic party tactics!

PLEASE NOTE: To insure that folks who are truly ready to go get to go, the pay policy for this event is that after you click yes, you must pay within 24 to secure your spot, otherwise you will be tossed back to the "No" zone or, if the meet up is full, onto the wait list. If you aren’t into Pay Pal, just contact organizer to make other arrangements to pay by check. If you are not yet sure of your schedule and don’t feel comfortable to pay right now, please select the “no” option and write me a note to let me know that you are interested in the event even if you aren’t quite ready to commit!

Howdy. Due to an insane work and apt hunting schedule, I can't go. I'm paid up for the event so if someone would like to take my place and mail me a check- call me [masked]. Thanks.

As we all start to get excited about this one, y'all mught consider a special side event on Sunday, a quick drive up to Lake Henshaw to hunt for gemstones from the Himalaya Mine! For $75 bucks you can try your luck at finding some choice stones. If we have several folks interested in doing this we get a discount. Check it out...! http://www.highdesertgemsan...

    •  Fantastic time, great mix of people, and some wonderful innovations with the light-up balloons, glow sticks and balls. The "Glow"-down was hilarious! Thanks to all for their contributions and commraderie!
    •  It was the perfect mix of party people and quieter, discussion-by-the fire-pit people. The food was fantastic and Jayne did an excellent job of organizing, providing food and creating space-alien-launch-pad excitement.
    •  Thanks again Jayne..it was freaking awesome! I will never look at ufo's the same again!
    •  Another hilarity-infused pie-filled smorgasbord of shenanigans courtesy of the genius from the stars who takes on the name "Jayne" when in human form. I am a bit concerned about how my psyche is going to deal with the memory of hearing a man with glowing rings around his limbs and torso, and flashlights for eyes, telling me "I'm not that guy" while my eyes were screaming "he is that guy!" ... screw it, psychic stability is overrated.
    •  I had a blast! Thank you for everything Jayne. It was great to see some old faces, meet some new ones and got to know a few peeps better. I hope you all enjoy the pics.
    •  One of the best campsites I've ever been in!
    •  Again another wonderful event. Thanks Jayne for hosting and providing yummy food. And, thanks Monica for taking us up to the observatory.
    •  I had a great time, even if I didn't see any shooting stars.
    •  Awesome Jaye......many thanx!
