April showers bring May flowers but the August Perseids bring potentially death dealing meteorites screaming across the heavens! If we’re going to go, wouldn’t you rather be camping with some of the finest folk you’ve ever met!? This extra special “catch a falling star” camp-out at Palomar Mountain State Park will give us a chance to contemplate the heavens, hike a beautiful trail or two, frolic in the meadows, and consider just how swell a planet we live on!

We’ll be camping at Group Site Number One in the Cedar Grove Group Camp Area at Palomar Mountain State Park. There are a few group sites in this area, so look for us and signs for UA. Your admission into the park should be covered by the fact you are camping, so tell the rangers at the entrance that you are part of the Kennedy Party for the Cedar Grove Group Camp. We have a limit of 10 cars, so carpooling is highly recommended. Overflow cars will have to stay overnight in the parking area, and we will shuttle you back to the campsite if needed.
Depending on fire conditions, we may or may not be able to have a campfire, but we will have a great observation point for the big show in the sky!
A special menu and games will set the vibe, and we’ll have some of the extra-terrestrial inspired light-painting props we enjoyed at the Integratron, as well as some wonderful new ones.
This adventure will include dinner and wonderful desserts from nearby Julian, pie capital of Southern California! We'll also have a simple breakfast on site. BYOB if you intend to see your own stars. Please bring a little something to share when we connect up around lunch time for a mellow meet-and- greet picnic.
The park is lovely and has many different hikes to enjoy. There is a little fishing area, so bring your rod if you like.
Since this is a big time for astronomy lovers, the park will be extra full of telescopes and viewing devices, and you might want to bring your own.
To be sure that everyone gets a thrill even if it is cloudy, the giving folks of UA will have a special surprise for all of those in the park, as we build yet another UFO for the fun and enjoyment of our camping neighbors!
Come meet the meteorites in a delightful setting and share in some intergalactic party tactics!
