I know most people have plans for the 4th of July, but what about the 3rd?!

Anyone up for a Red Line adventure and walking tour?

The Tentative Schedule (Please note that we will be going on a flexible time schedule and this is just a tentative plan, except for the starting time and place)
3:00pm: Meet at the Green Bamboo (136 S. Central Avenue, 90012) and Starbuck's in Little Tokyo on the corner of 2nd and Central. You can grab a drink or two at the Green Bamboo, or some coffee or tea at Starbuck's.
3:30pm: Walk over to Olvera Street for some churros, South American Coca Colas, and taquitos.
4:15: Head over to Union Station to catch the Red Line.
4:45: Get off at the Sunset and Vermont stop. Walk up Vermont to Hollywood. Head east on Hollywood towards Hilhurst. We have the option of stopping by the Wacko bookstore, gift shop, and art gallery.
5:15: Arrive at the corner of Hilhurst and Hollywood and Sunset. From here, we can visit Pioneer Chicken, Tiki Ti's (for some Mai Tais), Ensenada Best Fish Tacos, the Good Luck Bar (1514 Hilhurst Avenue, 90027), the Drawing Room, the Alcove, Home Restaurant, and Ye Rustic Inn.
Time TBD: Head back to the Red Line, and either go onto to Hollywood and Vine to visit the Cahuenga Corridor, or head back to Union/Little Tokyo to check out the bars and restaurants there.
Finishing time TBD. This is going to be long, but fun, day.

Parking in Little Tokyo: You will find parking lots (one outdoor and one indoor) on the corner of 1st Street and Central Avenue. There is also metered parking all throughout Little Tokyo (you'll only have to fill the meter until 6pm). If you opt for street parking, make sure to check the signs as some streets are tow away zones from 4pm to 7pm (most notably 1st and 2nd street heading eastward).

The Metro: We will be purchasing the Metro Day pass for $5 at Union Station. This will prevent the hassle of having to buy tickets everytime we get on a train.

Please bring comfortable walking shoes. It is a hearty walk from Little Tokyo to Olvera/Union Station, and it will also be a hearty walk from the Sunset/Vermont Red Line stop and Hilhurst (our likely destination). Part of the plan is to get out and walk, and enjoy the summer air.

I will say this again, and will say it many times. Please come prepared to do some walking. That means no heels, and preferably no sandals or flip flops. Wear shoes that you could see walking in for three to six miles. I will send out a email with more info tomorrow.

    •  Awesome fun, so many sights, so little time! Time to schedule Part Deux!
    •  Great group and great event. Glad to be back !
    •  This adventure rocked! Hiroshi really knows how to throw a party en route!!
    •  Fan-freaking-tastic!
    •  The last minute scramble for midnight ramen was the perfect clincher to this first UA meetup. Then again, very little can compete with the funny shits and giggles on the way to the Union Station, the completely UA-overrun bars, the standard frisking for some salsa dancing, and the underground/subway pole dancing shenanigans.
    •  Oh dear lord was it fun!!!
    •  What can I say; UA never disappoints. Great seeing everyone, friends and new faces. Look forward to many, many more...
    •  Oh my goodness . . . this was indeed an adventure . . . I had a blast!!!!
    •  It was quite fun, yummy food, and cool people.
    •  I had a fun time, thanks! As the UAs headed back downtown, I joined up with that Biker's bar crawl at the Drawing Room and beyond!!
    •  The people were awesome. I had a great time.
    •  Tons of fun, great way to exlpore the area!
    •  awesome job hiro! thanks to all those who came out, had the right attitude, and made it FUN. it was great to meet many new members and hang with a great cast of UA characters (and also celebrate our sweet angels bday!) this event rates chanda's famous saying/sound which i'll try typing out....pa-da-da-da-da-POWWWW!
    •  I had a great time. We even had time to do some salsa dancing. Thanks Hiroshi.
    •  Stellar event Hiroshi !! Thanks for leading us all around town for great food drink and fun !!
    •  My liver is not happy, but I had a great time on Hiroshi's adventure! Hot bowl of ramen was a perfect ending to the night. Thank you all!
