This ride is no different than other Griffith Park rides. We'll meet at the back of the school (see address above) on Randall Street by 6:30pm and roll before 7pm.
Our destination, top of Mount Hollywood (Observatory is an option, but dependent on group's participation and energy). This ride will be on road via Crystal Springs and up Mount Hollywood. So yes, it's still a "mountain" bike ride! The ride up Mt Hollywood is closed to motor vehicles so this should give you some comfort.
All skill level is invited. However, keep in mind that there will be climbs, and lots of it. Great for those looking to develop strength and endurance without having to worry about the "technical" side of mtn biking. This also means that there will be plenty of downhill riding! Weeeee!!!
Beginners may ride with us for as long as you can and may turn around at any point. This ride is an out-and-back. All you need is back-track your route back to your car. I assure you though, that once you make it on the first climb, you wouldn't want to go back.
Come prepared with your essential tools, hydration packs, and energy bars/gels. All bikes from mountainbikes, roadies, to hybrids are welcome. Dress appropriately.
What to bring:
- Your bike!
- Hydration pack or water bottle
- Energy bars/gels/drinks
- Tools, spare tubes, pump, and patches
- A light system (and back-up batteries if available)
- A cellular phone
- A light jacket/windbreaker in case it gets cold
- A whistle
Certain common sense will apply:
- Less than two confirmed riders cancels the ride, especially on trails.
- Rain in the vicinity of the venue 2 hours prior cancels the ride.
- Be self sufficient and carry essential tools for repairs.
Please submit your RSVP accordingly. It is your responsibility to check this post periodically up to day of the event for status change. Please email me directly for my contact information or any questions you may have. Or, post them accordingly to share with the rest of the group.
