Autumn’s here, and cooler nights perhaps invite us to stay in with friends to grub out on some hearty food and to sit around playing board games. If this sounds like something you’d like to do on a Friday night, come join us for the fun! For this first installment, we will select from the following two games: (1) SCRABBLE or (2) CRANIUM. You may cast your vote during the RSVP process, as you will be asked which you would prefer to play. This event will be held at a private residence, located in Downtown Long Beach, very close to the 710 fwy. Please be a courteous and responsible guest, so that you may remain in the hostess’ good favor. We will make this event a POTLUCK, so please bring something to eat or drink (enough for 4 – 5 people), and it will be BYOB, so feel free to bring any festive beverage of your choice. :) |

Those of us who experienced the Integratron last time know what a unique and special place it is, loaded with power, intrigue, wit and wisdom from our alien overlords and our worldy hosts. If you went then and loved it, we hope you can return with us for a big Halloween adventure and dance party. If you missed that starship excursion, we hope you can join in now! (To get an idea of the fun we had, check out the low down from our previous event here! Once again we will hit Pappy and Harriet’s (53688 Pioneertown Rd. Pioneertown, CA) for lunch at 1, and then we’ll have free form time to explore the National Park, check out the fantastic shops and artwork of the area, and head out to Landers, where the Integratron awaits us for a check-in time of 4:00 p.m If you miss us at Pappy and Harriet’s, meet us at the Integratron at 4. Please don’t go too early because our hosts will be occupied with the last of the Public Sound bath people. There are great spots to hang out in until we all assemble and our fun begins! We will explore the grounds and settle in, case out the hammock village, enjoy a welcoming beverage, and carve our pumpkins for our contest! This event is BYOB and BYOG—“Bring Your Own Gourd.” (Please bring your own carving implements too). At 5:30 we will have our sound bath, offered by one of the wonderful sisters who own and share the Integratron with earthlings. As evening falls, we will set our pumpkins glowing and share in a fantastic feast utilizing the grills provided at the site (there will be plenty of vegan options and side dishes). We’ll cap off dinner with the pumpkin parade, and then it’s time for our Alien Crash Site Dance Party! We will party all around the compound, with a big bonfire in one area, a thumping dance hall in one of the smaller structures, and a delightful chill-style relaxation and psychic enhancement zone in the dome itself. There are areas to camp all around the dome, so bring your tent if you are hoping for a little more privacy. We can also sleep in the dome itself. The upper part is heated only by a few heaters and it will be chilly, so bring your best sleeping bag or some good blankets. The Integratron has a limited number of spare sleeping bags and mats if you need one, but bring ‘em if ya got ‘em. The downstairs of the dome has a bigger heater and is a little cozier. This is the high desert, but with the right gear and attitude we’ll all be comfy cozy! There are chairs on site for the bonfire, so no worries about bringing camp chairs. Our meals will have both carnivore and vegan elements. Dinner, breakfast, lodging, sound bath and special glowing surprises are included in the price. Please BYOB and BYOPumpkin! We will also have a Costume Contest, so get cracking with that tin-foil y’all! Sunday morning we will have a quick breakfast and head off to explore Giant Rock, one of the crazier features on the local landscape, and a big part of the history of the Integratron. Since we loved it so much the first time, we will once again visit the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum on Sunday morning. Parking here is ample, but we always recommend car pooling (to build UA bonding!), with passengers sharing gas money with the drivers. The price for this event is $88.00 Due to the many components required to pull this off in full UA style, you MUST pay for your slot when you RSVP. There will be no exceptions. If you do not dig pay pal, you must contact me directly and immediately to make other arrangements when you RSVP. Refunds will only be offered if the event is cancelled or if there is someone else to take your place, in which case you will directly pay back the person whose slot you took. I will have maps for everyone to the various spots we’ll be checking out. Directions to the Integratron from Los Angeles and points west: The Integratron is located about a two and a half hour drive east of Los Angeles. Take I-10 east to the CA Hwy 62 exit (Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, 29 Palms) past the highway 111/Palm Springs exit. Drive northeast about 25 minutes to the town of Yucca Valley. At the main intersection in town just past Carl's Jr., turn left at Old Woman Springs Road/Hwy 247. Drive 10 miles to Reche Road, where there is a large "Landers" sign on the right. Turn right, and drive 2.2 miles to Belfield Blvd. Turn left and drive about 1 mile. The Integratron is at the end of Belfield Blvd, just before the intersection of Linn Road. From Joshua Tree or 29 Palms: Locate Sunburst Avenue at a stoplight a few blocks east of central Joshua Tree. Turn north on Sunburst until the pavement ends at Golden. Turn right on Golden, and continue to the hard left turn at Border. Follow Border and continue until the pavement takes a hard left, about 6 miles, and becomes Reche Road. Continue on into Landers, about 6 miles. Less than half a mile past the Landers post office, turn right onto Belfield Blvd. Continue about a mile to the Integratron. The entrance will be on the right. Cost: $88.00 |

Time to hike to Mt. Lee/the Hollywood sign! This is a hike I have been doing for the past few Halloweens. We will hike from the Griffith Park Merry-go-Round parking lot to Mt. Lee (the backside of the Hollywood sign). The iconic sign is the location of one of the saddest tales in Hollywood's history. In 1932, Peggy Entwistle, a 24-year old actress who had struggled to find success in Hollywood, jumped off the letter H. Urban legend has it that she won the lead for a play just a few days after her body was found. Some believe that she still roams the area around the Hollywood sign! Witnesses say they smell gardenias (gardenias was supposedly Peggy's favorite perfume scent) and see a hazy fog, despite the weather being clear. http://www.prairiegh Where: We will meet in the Griffith Park Merry-go-Round parking lot two. When: Sunday, October 25 at 3:00pm What: The hike is a moderate seven-mile roundtrip hike. Please wear comfortable walking shoes, preferably hiking shoes, and bring water (about two to three liters) and snacks. Also remember to bring layers of clothing, as the temperature can change depending on what spot of the mountain we are in. Directions: From downtown, take the 5 North. Exit and turn left on Los Feliz Boulevard. Turn right on Riverside Dr./Crystal Spring Road (the first light you will see). The road will detour up to the left. Continue on the road until you see a stop sign and a sign for the Merry-go-Round (turn left here). The road will veer right into parking lot one. Continue past parking lot one to the next parking lot (parking lot two). We will be in the second Merry-go-Round parking lot. Call or text if you get lost (I will send out my cellphone number to "yes" RSVPs a day or two before). Final Thoughts: Please remember that we have hikers of different skill and ability. So for the expert hikers, please be patient. This hike is more for sight-seeing and having fun, and not racing up the trail to get an extreme work out. This is going to be fun! |

Come support LA’s finest artists, take home some great works and dine at the on-site restaurant. The Big Bear ski lifts and trails are open during the offseason for mountain biking and hiking. With the snow season soon upon us, this is a great chance for us to head out and enjoy the trails before the snow birds flock in. Also, new for this year is zip lining!!!! http://whitneymcd7.f There is also one big perk to going at this time of year, Oktoberfest! http://photos2.meetu That's right, Big Bear hosts what is widely considered the best Oktoberfest celebration in all of California, and top three in the entire country. I know it sounds crazy but having been there last year, we can tell you that it's true! This is one hell of a party! http://photos4.meetu http://photos4.meetu This year's fee is $65 which includes stay at the cabin, Friday -Sunday, and 3 meals. Click Here To Pay Check in is Friday at 3:00 PM, and I have already built in the $75 fee to the total cost so that we can check out at 3:00 PM on Sunday. Bedrooms include: 3 King beds, 1 Queen bed, 5 Twin beds, 1 Twin Trundle and 1 Queen Futon. Other amenities include: Satellite TV, 8 TV/3 VCR,/DVD, fireplace, laundry, dishwasher and BBQ. Bring your air mattresses, sleeping bags, covers, etc... Everyone will share rooms, beds, couches, floor space, etc.... Absolutely no private room reservations allowed. Earlier this year, we had a 3000sq ft cabin rated for 16 people, and we had 23 people. We easily had room for more, so this should be much more than comfortable. Don't want to go overboard and make the place too crowded though. http://photos1.meetu http://photos1.meetu Your payment does not include beverages, maid service or all of the other activities you'll want to do while up there. Everyone is expected to help cook and/or clean up. BYOB. Included Meals Saturday morning- Breakfast/lunch Saturday evening - Dinner Sunday morning - Breakfast/lunch Menu TBD. Since people will trickle in at different times on Friday evening, food is not provided on this day. You are responsible for your own meal(s) on Friday. If you are interested in mountain biking, you can bring your own bike but be aware that they have restrictions on which type of bikes are allowed on the trails. To be on the safe side, and to avoid having to lug your own bike all the way out there, you might consider renting a bike from a local shop which will ensure that you have the right bike for the trails. http://photos3.meetu http://www.bigbearmo Some common prices I received for bike rentals in Big Bear Contact info for some of the rental shops http://photos2.meetu If you are simply interested in riding the ski lifts for the view or you'd like to enjoy a brisk hike back down, then it's even easier for you. If you are not interested in either of these activities you can hang out at the cabin and take advantage of the spa, play pool, walk around the 4 acres that surround the place, help get the food ready (he he) or wander down to the lake or the village and check out the stores, shops and restaurants. Ski lifts open 9:00AM-5:00PM Ski lift prices: http://photos3.meetu No Bike: http://photos3.meetu Zip Line Prices and Information Oktoberfest ticket prices are $12 per person http://photos2.meetu There is no set itinerary once we're there aside from Saturday night dinner. Whether it's hiking, mountain biking, zip lining, checking out the lake, hanging out in the village, or having a relaxing, lazy day in the cabin you are all free to do as you may. We will all gather back in the cabin around 5:00PM and start getting the grub together, menu TBD. Everyone is expected to help cook, clean or both. After dinner, we'll head over to Oktoberfest to party the night away! http://photos1.meetu Spendings not included in the event fee are: Carpools Please post on your RSVP when you can leave, what time and your general location (ie The Valley, The West Side, Pasadena, etc...) and we will try to match people up with a ride. Obviously, we'll need volunteer drivers so please also indicate if you would like to volunteer to drive. Cost of gas will be split amongst all passengers in each car. Driver's already volunteered their car, and of course to be the drivers, so please don't make them pay for gas. Payment Details and Refunds Click Here To Pay We are all there to have fun, and this will be a rowdy good time. If you're an early or light sleeper we'll try to place you in the section of the cabin where we feel you'll get the less noise. However, be prepared for people hanging out late night about the cabin and some possible noise. If this isn't going to work for you, then please do not RSVP. |

Imagine driving a mere 1.5 hours from LA to spend the afternoon hiking past stunning scenic vistas, across small creeks and through beautiful pine groves before retiring in the comfort of lakeside cabins in the quaint hamlet of Angelus Oaks right by the San Bernardino Mountains, (with bathrooms and showers in our rooms and BBQ grills by the patio). http://2.bp.blogspot Think it can't get better? http://www.wildlands Think again! http://www.oakglen.n IMPORTANT NOTE: Accommodations include sharing queen-sized beds. Some limited floor space (thick pads will be provided) and tent ground is available AFTER we meet the cost of the cabins. Meaning, we must have at least 8 people willing to pay $35. Additional cabins are still available if our interest is higher. If we add additional people, with people interested in sleeping on the floor or in tents, rates will be reduced and you will be refunded some funds at the cabin-site. If you'd like to help us make quota, but know you'd rather sleep in your tent, vehicle, or on the floor please indicate this in your RSVP. This payment is for lodging only. Please indicate in your RSVP that you are willing to pay $35, (and know that you may be refunded some money if additional participants, who want to sleep on the floor or in tents, join us.) Please indicate whether or not (if the option becomes available) you would be interested in a reduction in rate for sleeping on the floor or in your tent. I hope this is not too confusing. http://upload.wikime IF YOU RSVP 'YES' after 9/22/09- Please email me and I will send you the link. Please pay by Saturday, Sept. 26th. I have already paid for our rooms. The place looks delightful! Please also indicate if you will be continuing with us to Oak Glen the next day. You do not have to RSVP separately for the Oak Glen event if you plan to join us both days. Thanks in advance for your interest and patience as we schedule this event. I'm certain it will be a success! Cost: $36.00 |
