Wine in the Pines 2012

  • Jun 8, 2012 · 2:00 PM

Wine in the Pines is a great wine festival held each year in the beautiful mountain community of Pine Mountain Club, located approximately a two hour drive north from Los Angeles.

Over forty wine booths and plenty of local food/restaurant booths giving out free grub. By the time the festival is over you are likely to be both drunk and full! Luckily, you wont have a long, buzzed drive all the way back to Los Angeles after the festival since we have rented a cabin and making it a weekend event!

http://www.wineinthepines.com/ourchefs.html

We have secured a four bedroom cabin that is walking distance to the event, so we wont have to worry about driving at all. The wine festival is Saturday June 9th, from noon to 3:00PM. We will have the cabin from Friday night til Sunday morning.  This year we will squeeze 15 people into the 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom cabin.

Everyone will share rooms and floor space, so please don't expect to have a private room. Those who have been on our weekend trips before already know how this works, and we always have a blast. As you can imagine, this may turn out to be a bit of a rowdy time, so please don't sign up if this doesn't sound like your cup of tea or if you are an early sleeper or require quiet to sleep. I can't guarantee that you will get it.

The cost for this event will be $60.00 for the two night stay at the cabin. Price is the same whether you go for one night, or two. Price also includes food for DIY breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, and casual dinner on Saturday night. We will keep it simple, and maybe we'll BBQ, or we may even stay in town after the festival and hang out at one of the local restaurant/bars, or both.

The $60.00 fee DOES NOT include the price of the wine event. You are responsible for purchasing your own tickets. Tickets are $35 pre-sale (while pre-sale supplies last) and $50 the day of. Please purchase your tickets in advance to avoid the risk of being left out. They have sold out the last two years.

This event is BYOB (for the cabin) so please bring your own booze/drinks of choice and feel free to bring some to share.

Depending on how everyone feels, we may try to set up a hike in the nearby mountains and other activities, so that it's not an all weekend boozeathon in the cabin. Although you can do that too, if you prefer.

Everyone will help to cook and clean. The house needs to be clean before we leave on Sunday, so please do your share before you leave.

There is a 5 car parking limit so carpools will be mandatory as having too many cars will be a sure-tell sign that we are exceeding the occupancy limit. You can arrange your own carpools, otherwise I will try to match up people with rides depending on their location. Passengers, please be ready to drive to the drivers meeting location of choice and please be ready to split the cost of gas with the other passengers.

Please bring:

  • Towels
  • Toiletries
  • Change of clothes (duh!)
  • Hiking shoes/clothes in case we go for a hike
  • Sleeping bags, covers, air mattresses, foam pads, etc.. whatever else you may need to sleep comfortably, whether in a bed or on the floor.
  • Money to cover gas and all meals not included in the price of the event
  • Your own booze and booze to share
  • An open mind about spending the entire weekend in semi-close quarters with 15 people, some of whom you've probably never met.
  • A fun and adventurous attitude

The way this will work is: If you want to attend this event, you will sign up for the waitlist, and send your payment in via the Paypal link. Once I receive your payment I will place you on the YES section.

No refunds unless event is canceled.

In the case that you can no longer make it, a refund may be given only if the event is full and someone on the waitlist takes your place (their payment is your refund).

very quaint little town. The event is very reasonably priced. All the vendors are lovely. the locale is clean. The live music was a pleasure. And the group, as usual, was a blast to be around!

I'm driving from Hollywood at 2:00 on Friday. There's plenty of unrestricted parking on my street and I'm just off the 101 near the Bowl. I've got room for 1 more (maybe 2, if you don't mind being a little crammed in the back seat).

Has anyone starting making carpool plans?? I'm in Koreatown and could bring 1-2 people (backseat is quite small and a tiny trunk) or would rather carpool with someone.

    May 28, 2012

  • Nina

Hi Chanda-do you still have spaces? Thanks.

    1 · May 28, 2012

  • Chanda

I still have two spaces in my cabin a mile away from the festival grounds - contact me for details if you're still interested in going but can't fit into Eddie's cabin.
