Circle Manhattan by Bike

Experienced guides from East Coast Greenway Alliance & Common Ground-NYC will lead the 3rd annual Circle Manhattan by Bike ride on June 30th. Last year saw a kickoff speech by State Senator Liz Krueger talking about closing the 1-mile gap in the esplanade by the U.N. This is a bike ride for fun and purpose!

Starting Point: Just south of East 61 Street Dog Run at the bottom of the 60 Street & York Avenue ramp (See Starting point on map).

The Route: Ride the Greenway counterclockwise (including gaps) from the bottom of the ramp. Ride north to 120th Street footbridge - after checking out the Gap at 124th - up the Harlem Gap to Harlem River Park Greenway (10 blocks). Will this be the year it is finally closed?

Continue onto Speedway at 165th Street, then to Dyckman Street, west to Greenway, then south to Battery Park, after stopping for lunch midway! Loop east, then head north on the Lower East Side Greenway, ending at Glick Park at 37th Street - See Ending Point on map!

We will stop for breaks/lunch at the bike symbols on the map.

Optional final 23-block Gap Protest Ride back up First/York Avenue Gap (the red lines on the map) back to starting point.

At 10am I finally gave up and biked home. I didn't like standing in the projects in Harlem with an expensive bike completely lost. I saw absolutely nowhere where a bike path could pick up. Your directions were awful, sorry to say.

What's the price for this ride?

This is for a full year's membership ($20) + the cost of the eventbrite site per person. Truthfully, not everyone paid last year. I guess you could just come and see if my partners collect at the ride.

Is the price $22 correct? Seems a bit steep.

Hi Scott, Unfortunately my group and I won't be able to ride on Sunday. Ride safe and I look forward to the next ride.

The weather forecast calls for 60% chance of showers Sunday, not just rain (which can be refreshing on a hot day). My co-sponsors and I will monitor the situation and if it looks certain to be a washout, post an announcement that the ride will be rescheduled to July 14th, Saturday night (Meetup.org is down for Maintenance 6-9:30AM Sunday, so check the night before).
If it is raining hard by 8:00AM, you can assume the ride has been postponed.
There are nearly 100 people registered for this ride, so it may not be possible to reach everyone.

I hope it comes soon. Three of my cycling tours were cancelled due to rain. I have not ridden to work as much because of the cold temps. It is discouraging cause I look forward to the spring/summer cycling season
