Blind Wine Tasting @ a Private Home

  • December 8, 2012 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is no longer available

This event is for Paid Members only, no guests.  TY

The Schedule:

We will start opening whites at 6:40, and will present a new wine and food every 15 minutes or so during the evening, until all wines have been introduced.

Whites first, Reds last.

The wine and "food accompaniment" is consumed with each presentation, so if you are late you will miss wines accordingly.  Please be on time to enjoy this event.

BRING A FAVORITE WINE, any variety, in a wine bag.

Bring any food that you know tastes great with your wine.

If you want to decorate your wine to suit your presentation, that is great.  Otherwise,

feel free to use a grocery store brown paper bag.

If you plan to sip, bring wine.

If you do not bring wine, you do not share wines unless you buy a bottle from the organizer.

No exceptions.

INTRODUCE YOUR WINE AND FOOD without revealing the wine's grape name or vineyard.   Describe why you enjoy this wine with the food you brought.

Tell us a crazy story if it will win you POINTS

(Everybody MUST believe you are telling the truth until the next day when you may confess your fibs.  Confessing during the event will disqualify you!)  Sometimes the shortest, simplest stories like "This is a wonderful wine from my trip to Seattle" is enough! If you met aliens (or Sean Penn) while in Sacramento, hey- who are we to question?

Each member will have a SCORE CARD to grade the

1.  WINES,

 2.  FOOD PAIRING,  &

  3.  PRESENTATION!

You get 1-10 points on each part.

If you get the most points by the end of the evening,

YOU WIN A PRIZE!

BE CREATIVE IN TRYING TO WIN POINTS

Will the least expensive wine or the most appealing taste combination get the most points?

Perhaps "the win" will depend on how each is presented?  Dress the part?

Have a heartfelt story?  Make your food extra-fancy looking?  Do you have a bottle of your grandfather's muscadine wine and know it is better than anything you can buy?  Is the secret to great Pinot a good Chicken Meatball?  Is your homemade guacamole delicious with a nice Cabernet?  Is there a vegan dish which when combined with Savignon Blanc cannot fail to win?   Competition is what makes this tasting fun!  Be as serious or as silly as you want to be.

We'll teach you how to win!

We don't care if you bring Cheetos or Caviar with your wine

if you KNOW they taste great together!

There is a $2  cash charge per member for this event, to cover paper goods and the prize.

For those with allergies, there may be a foster dog living in this home.

Clifford will be kept in a separate room.

I was giving non-members a chance to join before removing them from the list or sending the address. You should have it by now. Thanks!
