'The Urban Forager' - Edible Plants of the West

Summer is the season with longer days, and lots sprouting flora! But wouldn't it be great to actually be able to identify all of that plant life in your neighborhood? It would be even better to be able to pick out those plants that are actually edible?

Kate Armstrong is referred to as 'The Urban Forager,' and she is known all over the West as an expert in gathering edible plants in the typical Colorado landscape. Kate is flying in special to meet with our group. Your friends are welcome to attend this event.

There are many wild edibles in your own backyard and around the city. Wild edibles are often the source of very valuable nutrients and can make a delicious and unique addition to your diet.

Learning the local edible plants in your neighborhood is an empowering experience. To be able to forage plants and know why they are beneficial will bring you closer to your local ecology and understanding ecosystems.

Join us at Standley Lake Regional Park at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2nd, for an informative and fun walk to discover everything you will need to know to make a delicious and healthy meal.

Please note that these nature programs are outside!! Please bring sunscreen and water/ prepare for the elements.

A $10 donation is suggested. For additional Information call - (303)[masked] - Please note there is a $7 fee to drive into the park.

So true though I need to get back to basics and really learn how to use a map. Just don't plug in a address, definitely question if it doesn't look right. I did!

As a point of reference. The woman who lead this walk is charging $25 for this same foray this weekend at one of the Denver City Parks. Not sure if it was worth $25, but it was interesting.

For those who would like a great book on this topic, Edible & medicinal plants of the Rockies is one I have. I forgot to bring it. By Linda Kershaw. Just another resource.

I'm terribly disappointed not to be able to attend. Will there be more of these courses?

Update on this event! You are asked to give Kate Armstrong the $10 fee--this will be the only cost. The $7 gate fee is being waived! If you arrive for this gig on Sunday, please let the gate know that the gate fee is waved because you are attending the seminar with Kate Armstrong, the Urban Forager. The City of Westminster is waiving the fee at the gate, so that Kate can be compensated for her time. Ms. Armstrong is flying in for this event.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
