A Wonderful Meetup #3 and an Opportunity for #4!!!!

Hey everyone!!! I just want to send a huge thank you to everyone who made it to Stella's last Sunday! It was a great time to just hang out with some like minded people. I think everyone had a great time and we ended up staying past 8:00! I think we talked about almost everything possible, heard some great stories, and I know I picked up a few amazing new tricks.

It sounds like a couple people stopped by but didn't find us, I would like to apologize for that, we ended up behind the building because it was more crowded than I anticipated inside. I put up a sign on the door, and told the gentleman behind the counter where we would be, but he seemed pretty busy so he might not have relayed the message to anyone. The good news is that next time I will make sure to send out my phone number well in advance, and I'm going to make sure it's in a more 'group friendly' location.

One thing we talked about, which Peter covered in the e-mail he sent out, is that a great way to bring everyone together is to have a monthly speaker on different topics, some idea's were:

Thermo regulation -- Clothing and shelter
Transportation -- on foot -to- mechanized
Food - calories, fat, carbs and how much you need per day
Food - Storage programs
What could we be preparing for: Types of threats and their specific preparation requirements?
Bug-out-Bag -- Essential components
Communications -- What?s available Pros/Cons: HAM, GMRS, FRS, Scanner, CB
Devising your plan -- The A,B,Cs of a emergency plan
To "Bug in" or to "Bug Out" -- A Realistic look at your situation and how to plan accordingly
Playing with fire practice session -- Hands on practice with various types of fire making
Hierarchy of needs -- from basics to luxuries where do you start
Self "Offense" -- how to neutralize a threat
Water ? The what, when and how of purification and storage
Water ? Identifying sources and pre-planning
Power Generation ? Solar and abundant sources for power generation & storage
Medical ? In the field
Medical ? home remedy cures etc?

Some others were posted in the discussion forum HERE there are also a ton of great meetup ideas for our group HERE, which I encourage anyone to add more to both.

In my experience, I have found that when a group comes together and everyone teaches something, even if they only have limited experience at first, ultimately everyone comes out ahead. So what I'm excited about, is that I get to open this opportunity up to everyone, to see who would like to give short presentation in whatever style is most comfortable (lecture, workshop, camping trip, etc) on anything mentioned, or anything that you may have expertise on, that you would like to share! You can reply to this e-mail and it will come straight to me.

Also really quick I added a video to the website that I found on which I thought was very fitting, check that out HERE, And Denver's Urban Survival Network now has it's own facebook page!!! So jump on facebook today and 'like' us HERE... because you know you do. ;-)

Again I would like to thank everyone and I am incredibly excited for all that is coming down the line, so keep checking in on the website, and watching for our e-mails!
