Re: [Denvers-Urban-Survival-Network] Fw: [globalization-78] SB510 Bans growing food? And people actually sponsor it? I'm hoping they just didn't read it.

I respectfully offer an alternative opinion and deeper explanation of the proposed legislation -
http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/call-in-friday-9-10-10

This in no way implies that it is a GOOD piece of legislation or one that should be supported, but hopefully cuts through much of the "conspiracy theory" hysteria, and lays out the factual reasons it should be opposed. I think it also provides a URL to where the act is posted and can be read by the public. I usually like to read for myself before forwarding stuff like this, because rarely do I find the truth regarding such matters to exist in the rhetoric of either extremes - for or against - because they are usually BOTH pushing some kind of agenda. The facts can usually be found somewhere in the middle.

It does NOT apply to home gardening and does not ban the growing of anything. It deals with documentation of sales by commercial farmers - large and small.

Please listen to the podcast (around the 13 min mark). I think it does a good job of addressing the bill and hype around it. Hope this helps clear up any misunderstandings : )
