Denver's Urban Survival Network Message Board › Denver's Urban Survival Network General Discussion › Communications plan for local area
I think we should begin planning as a group about how we plan on communicating with each other in a worst-case scenario.
I think we should debate and decide on the following:
Radio types that do not require FCC License (e.g. FRS, CB)
Minimal license radios (e.g. GMRS, basic HAM shortwave)
frequencies/channels for all types of radios
secondary frequencies and channels
hours of operations
message relaying protocols
I'm personally using and suggesting GMRS radios. They're cheap but powerful and the license is inexpensive.
What does everyone else think?
Since I work with OMEGA here in Colorado I can tell you if it isnt a ham then it isnt going to travel . I could send you info on free classes starting soon. For line of site com EXRS is the only way to go.
