UX Happy Hour Auckland (pt.2)

Hi All

We are going to kick off another UX Happy Hour as a chance to get together again over a quiet ale.

Date: Thursday May 24th
Venue: Cardrona Speights Ale House
Address: 37 Normandy Road, Mount Eden
Time: 5:45 - 8:30ish.
There's plenty of parking, and a train station close by (and a prison... but don't let that deter you.)

Here's the Cardrona Speights Ale House website for more info and directions
http://www.cardronaspeightsalehouse.co.nz

Just looking at that site, we thought it is ripe for a UX review - heuristic evaluation styles!
Have a quick read up here if not familiar with the term heuristics http://www.useit.com/papers/heuristic/heuristic_evaluation.html
Nothing too strenuous - just jotting down some ideas on how we might improve the UX of the site with a bit of social discussion during the evening. We will provide some printouts of the site at the venue. At the end of the night we can leave our suggested improvements for the site as a thank you for having us. Lucky them.

Please RSVP for a headcount.

Cheers,
UX Auckland Meetup Team

I really enjoyed my first UX happy hour meet. It was good to mingle with UX designers in the industry. Learnt so much from that one night. Everyone was really friendly and willing to share their expertise. Looking forward to more meetings in the future.

Since there was such an interest in UX courses last light I thought it may be worth sharing the Stanford HCI course. It is a 6 week online course and runs for 6 weeks. No fee and you can do it when it suits you. They have just launched it so take a look.

Good to see a range of interesting people. Too much background noise, could not hear much of what was being said

Was good to meet a new bunch of people with some new ideas. Did like the sharing of profiles but only this once. Would like to see some case studies and or mini presentations next time.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
