Ushahidi Academic Webinar (Nairobi and Virtual)

Ushahidi's team is keen to foster community with academics and researchers. In fact, we have a few on our team. Join our first Ushahidi Academic webinar co-hosted by Heather Ford, Ushahidi Web Ethnographer, and the iHub Research Team.

We will share and discuss:

*what we're doing with research

*new ways of thinking about research

*access to datasets

*current research holes

*your questions

More Details:

Date: Friday, November 11, 2011

Time: 16:00 - 17:30 EAT

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

Nairobi: Join us at the iHub for an in-person event

Virtual: This is a new tool, so wish us luck:

1. Join

2.  Register (We recommend that you do this in advance.)
3. You will be prompted when the Webinar starts to do the following:

Call-in toll number (US/Canada): [masked]

Access code:[masked]

Nairobi (Kenya): please attend in person

Other locations: (updated Nov. 11, 2011) The system will not prompt you for another number at this time. We tested and you can call the [masked], but sadly you will incur charges. We will ensure this in place for the next event. To assist we are setting up a Ustream which will stream the audio for you and ensure that you will hear and see the webinar. We will also record this for future viewing.  Thank you for your understanding.

The event is free.

Hope you can join us.

We will record the webinar for future use if you are unable to attend.

Hi - I was unable to make this and am wondering if there was a recording of it? Thanks! Antonia

It was an ambitious plan with many technical hurdles, and a very early start time for a California-based fan. The content looked fantastic, but it was difficult to hear over a slow connection on my end, and I'm not a fan of WebEx in the first place.

    Thanks, Bob!
LOL. Ah well, will listen for rescheduling....but 8am may not work for me anyway, so glad there will be a recording!

Donna, looks like it was scheduled for 4:00PM EAT, not EST (which would have been 8AM this morning if I'm not mistaken). According to the Ushahidi twitter feed: "Update: Due to the internet outage at the ihub, the Ushahidi academic webinar will be rescheduled. Thank you for your patience."

Great for me since I thought I'd missed it so if that's the case, looking forward to the reschedule event (or the recording).

I very much wish I could join you, but am traveling all day tomorrow. Please let me know if information on the discussion will be available on a blog or if it will be recorded and posted online. I'm very interested in mapping as a tool and am currently working on a PhD; this is right up my alley. Asante sana!
