Utah Photography and Photoshop Meetup

This month we are combining our meetup with Pixels Foto & Frame and the Wasatch Camera Club to attend the presentation by Rick Sammon. It is free to attend, but registration is required through the Wasatch Camera Club. You can register here. We hope you all attend. It should be a great event. Lunch is provided for a fee or you may bring along your own lunch and we can chat during the lunch break.

Saturday, March 22 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Miller Center, Salt Lake Community College

9750 South 300 West, Sandy, Utah

The Wasatch Camera Club and Pixels Foto & Frame are pleased to welcome, Rick Sammon as the featured speaker for the club’s annual event PhotoOp 14.

As award-winning photographer Rick Sammon likes to say, he loves his day job. He is tireless, prolific and inspirational image-maker called by some “The Godfather of Photography,” and is one of the most active photographers on the planet – dividing his time between creating images, leading photo workshops, and making personal appearances. Rick’s enthusiasm for digital imaging is contagious. He is a man on a mission – a mission to make digital photography fun, creative, exciting and rewarding for others.

In recognition of his talent and influence, not to mention over 40 years of experience, Rick has been named a Canon Explorer of Light. He is also a Westcott Top Pro Elite, recognized for his skill in portraiture and lighting.

For every image, Rick will share a photographic technique, digital darkroom tip, or a photo philosophy.

He will cover:

Composition, the strongest way of seeing,

Light, the main element in every photograph,

HDR, when it good and when it’s bad,

Lightroom and Photoshop tips, tricks and techniques,

Awaken the artist within with plug-ins,

Noise reduction,

Travel photography,

Photographing action,

Landscape, seascape and icescape photography,

Black and white photography,

Shooting on a photo safari,

What a histogram tells us,

Wildlife photography,

Speedlites and lighting,

Getting and staying motivated,

And more….!

This is not just a slide show of pretty images. Rick is here to share what he’s learned over his many years as a professional photographer – travelling to almost 100 countries.
