Utrecht.rb Coding Dojo!

Another Coding Dojo led by Kero van Gelder. Spots are limited so sign up quickly!

A coding dojo is *the* place to hone your programming skills!

We will focus on Refactoring, with the Gilded Rose kata.

The original kata is in C#, but since this is Utrecht.rb, a Ruby version will be provided.

Some pizzas and drinks will be provided. Thanks to Brightin for making everything possible!

There were trains running again from Utrecht to Eindhoven, yay!

I added the two branches 'unprofessional' (how not to implement Conjured Items) and 'kero' (a possible refactoring path).

I also made the repo writable, so if you name your branch something other than 'master', you can push, and others can fetch to compare results. Obviously I will make the repo read-only in the nearby future again. The repo will remain available.

I had a great evening, thank you all!

Excellent, and professional in character. It would be cool if we could showcase a bit more, and really get to see how other people work, especially in a profession like this where we spend most of our time in our own bubbles.

Thanks! Lack of beamer played a role here, but you made me realize that this kata is probaly suitable for Randori style, too.

I would like to join, but refactoring might not be the easiest topic for me as I'm quite new to Ruby/web development. But I might join and look over people's shoulders to learn something :)

Refactoring is for the young and old, people new or common to programming. My advice: just attend this meetup, learnings are guaranteed ;)

Could you give some more details? Is it intended for a certain level, will we work in teams (how are we gonna learn from each other)?

Everybody can join; We will be pair-programming, and at certain times I will stop the programming to have a discussion; both techniques will allow you to learn from each other.

I'm sure you could host it at UtrechtInc if you still need a location. Let me know if you want me to ask.
