We're technically a "book club", but reading is just small a part of what we're all about. We consider ourselves a community, we help each other find jobs, apartments, furniture or just good old fashion support in times of need. Our slogan is "So much more than a book club" because we really are. We encourage all our members to dive in and get involved. Our meetups range from book discussions to clothing swaps to sky diving! So, if you're looking for your run of the mill boring book club, we are probably not for you. The POINT of our group is to bring girls together to build lasting relationships and to create a safe and supportive place for young women to connect on a deeper level. We empower each other and we help each other realize our dreams. If we read the same book, we ALWAYS have something to talk about. However, we do not force reading onto anyone, you can still join in on all the other epic events that make us so fun and unique.
We are so excited to announce that we are currently seeking our non-profit status!
This will help us to expand the group and create even more amazing opportunities for our members!
We're always open to YOUR ideas for meetups.
Our books discussions are themed with the book!
How cool is that?! If your book suggestion has the most votes, you get to host the event! There is a little friendly competition among the girls for the most unique discussion ideas.
For example, 50 shades of Grey we discussed at Karma Sutra Closet an upscale adult boutique. Fight Club's discussion took place during an actual "fight club" with a inflatable bounce house! You get the idea, right? In other words, we're not your typical book club, we have lots crazy events and make tons of amazing friendships along the way.
Even if you've not cracked one of our "monthly" books open...you're still welcome! Just take a look through a few of our most recent meetups, and you'll see the diversity in events we do. If you have an idea, but you're not sure the others will join, post it anyway! You never know what others like that you like too.
We try to read a book at least once a month, but sometimes we're so busy doing awesome meetups and having a blast in life that we don't always make that mark. We're totally open to know what YOU want to read and we vote on our facebook page or at least we try to! Owner reserves the right to choose if Y'all are doing more awesome things and you're just too busy to be bothered. ;)
There is a $3 membership donation once a year to help pay for the costs to run the group.
PHOTOS: Please note, we keep this meetup and our Facebook page as private as possible. However, we may use photos from past meetups for ad's, E-mails, videos or other public uses to promote the group. If you do not wish to have your photos used for this purpose, please politely request the meetup organizer for that event not include your photos on the site and or Facebook Page.
PRIVACY/ SAFTEY: We encourage group members to utilize each other skill sets and share an array of
opportunities, including, but not limited to shared rooms, jobs, travel, legal advice or just good old fashion support. While we LOVE each and every member of our group, we do encourage a 3 meeting policy prior to entering into any kind of written or verbal contract. This is merely a suggestion. We are unable to vet each member through meetup.
Comments / Concerns: We prefer comments, suggestions or concerns pertaining to the group be sent directly to group organizer as apposed to using our public forums. We would love to have a conversation one on one with you! We do read and consider each and every one. However, given the size of our group and complications with the meetup site, which limit some of our capabilities, we are not always able to honor all requests. We do our best!
