  • Hi Shawn. Any interest in joining my suggested meetup at "Food for Thought: Meditation & a Meal" this Friday? The meal will be vegan (3 course asian fusion, cooked by a Buddhist nun with culinary talents!), and the meditation will make it a peaceful evening :)

  • Wow! I'm sooo far behind, as you can tell. lol My hubby, Richie, and I moved here last year from the Fresno area and are loving our new home! The veg scene here is far better than anywhere else we've lived! I love it! Thanks for asking! =)

  • Unfortunately, there are not many salons in the San Diego region that are cruelty-free. The few that I know of are the salon that I work at, A Style Concierge, Robert Cromeans, Paul Mitchell the School, Salon Ink, Gila Rut and Fresh. At A Style Concierge, we actually carry a vegan line called Colure. We also carry Alterna, Unite, Paul Mitchell and Compagnia del Colure which are not vegan but cruelty-free. I hope this helps you out. Hit me up if you ever need a cut or color!

  • Hey Shawn,

Unfortunately I haven't found any that are as great or delicious as the ones in Central and North County. I'm still on the look out though. I'll let you know if I find any.

  • Hey Shawn! I actually volunteered with Peta, in Norfolk, a few years ago, and got the life-changing opportunity to work in several of the departments and work parties. There are amazing vegan-option restaurants in the area...Rancho's (North Park and Ocean Beach)is my favorite and Sipz Fusion, in Kearny Mesa is a close second. Thanks for the shout!

  • Eh, it's slow! I am getting closer to the "big switch" but I still have my 3 exceptions - pizza, veggie burgers (although some are vegan, not all are), and desserts if I really, really want them. I'm sure that with time, I'll resolve them. Other than those though, it's been quite easy, and has made such an impact! You're right that OB has GREAT places to eat for vegans. I'm definitely lucky!

  • We've lived here a little over a year now, first in Carlsbad and now in Oceanside.

  • Both here and Washington state are very easy places to be vegan. The area around where I grew up was great that way as far as groceries and all that, but here in California it seems to be even easier as far as restaurants go.
