Colchester Pond Easy Paddle, Drinks/Late Lunch Lighthouse Restaurant?

Note: The change of venue and time change (one hour earlier). Due to the fishing derby I thought we should stay away from the lake. I also thought the earlier time would get people fed earlier:) I picked the Lighthouse for it's location near the interstate which might help those who travel more. I'm more than open to finding another restaurant if someone has a good place to try in the general area.

Great group, very easy going. Teamwork was excellent, everyone helping each other out with unloading and loading.

the small group was awarded with a quiet paddle (before the rain began) and we consequently also, were able to park in the small lot

Hey Ray, I think I'm intested in trying some paddling. but I don't have a kayak or canoe or boat. do you know if I can share with someone if I attend the event ?

      Anyone has some thoughts?

hey Ray, I think I will take a rain check this time. I need to get over my own fear of being on a boat by myself. Besides, I have blister on my feet so it's hard for me to walk anywhere now. There is no need to bring an extra kayak. Thank you for your kind offer and I'll see you next time.

    Kacie,
Can't do anything about your midterms.......but moving forward depending on where you live, me or someone else might be able pick you up until you get a rack or something.

I apologize. I'll be camping at GRRSP; with stopping to switch boats I'd have to leave there before anyone else is even awake in order to reach Colchester in time. Regrets…

Last time there, after getting kayak carried to end of parking lot; then able to drag it down to launch site & back- downhill going, uphill on return
On the carpool idea; my kayak takes up most of the extra room in the CRV allowing only driver & some equipment - so, unless someone has extra rack space, I can't help w/carpooling
Afterwards, if not the Lighthouse ; I'm sure we can find an alternative

lots of bodies to help each other should be no worries.....

      June 14, 2013

Looks like they had 3 trolleys there....not sure this rookie knows how to use them:) We'll have bodies there so no worries getting the boats to the water. Lighthouse serves brunch until 2pm, might need to find a back up plan for after...any thoughts?

I drove out today and I believe push comes to shove you can park on the other side of the bridge maybe 100 yards away. Drop the boat off and park down the road worst case. I'll call the town for more info. My question is why can't you park on the service road, all sorts of room. Another question I have to ask them. Looks like the weather is going to work for us:)

Parking is limited so carpooling is helpful and early arrival prudent. Last week the trolleys had all disappeared so if you have one at home that might help, though it's a wide-open, straight carry.

hmm, this sounds really fun. I've never paddled before but is a very good swimmer. Is there anyone interested in showing me how to paddle ? and well, in exchange, I guess I can show you how to swim.

cool. So I guess I should sign up. I live in Burly, so Colchester is actually better for me to drive. Is there anything I should bring with me ?

oh wait, June 16 - I might go fishing instead. I'm gonna wait to decide if I should RSVP. every year around this time I go fishing with my family so we'll see

This sounds like a great paddle, but my June Sundays are full.
Hope I can make another one.
If any one wants to paddle the Missiqoui delta around goose bay and down Dead Creek I'd be happy to lead. Week days are best for me.
This would be a 6 hr paddle and need good weather for the bay crossing.
