Hometown: Gernsheim am Rhein
July 30, 2011
My name is Gerhard Andres. I live in the South End of Burlington. I enjoy the peace and quiet of Lake Champlain and the Winooski. I love Charlie's Boathouse. My friend Charlie rents kayaks, single and doubles for $8.- an hour.
I own two Klepper kayaks from the '50s. I have been kayaking since I was 2 years old. That is more than 51 years ago. My favorite kayaking spots are the Rhine river & the Winooski. My spray skirt for my Klepper T9 has been eaten by mice over the years, so if you guys like white water kayaking, than I need a buddy for the front seat in my Klepper Aerius. I am saving some money up, to get a new spraydeck and sprayskirt for my single seater.
Knowledgeable and friendly people with some expertise and helpful advice. Low pressure and and fun way to learn new things. I look forward to more kayaking adventures.
Thank you. Your words were also well taken. It is within the large discussion. It will happen, as you mentioned.
Thanks for the mess. I will get back to you if I am available.
Hey Gerhard, thanks for joining up. Look forward to learning with you.
the way to transport the canoe to Charlies is to launch it in North Cove (i can do that myself) and then paddle it under the bridge out to Charlie's. there is no good reason to try to plop the thing on top of a vehicle. i love Charlie and i can donate $3 to the boathouse, but we don't need to launch my canoe from there. if the lake was 1 meter higher, i would just invite people to launch from my back yard and go through the woods. but we can't. maybe next year.
sure. i live at 40 North Cove Road. turn just *before* North Ave crosses the bikepath. red house with picket fence. since the lake is so low, my canoe launches from behind my neighbors property. if the lake was 3 feet deeper, we could launch right outa my back yard.
if you want to explore the Derway Island area, i'd be willing to take you there. sometimes there is wildlife to see. if other people join us, we can figure out what to do then.
thanks for your note. It was nice meeting you too. This week isn't going to work for me, but maybe sometime before the Sunday discussion...and let's see if Brad and Katie want to walk too.
Best regards to you. Deborah
