VT Lake Champlain Paddlers is a paddling group designed for social paddling with a group. In general, most paddles will be open to all types of kayaks and canoes, but some events may restrict boats to a certain type. We welcome paddlers of all skill levels to join us. Safety is a primary focus, and as such, paddlers MUST wear a PFD at all times while paddling with this group.
Don't be shy, we are a mellow group and we'll do our best to make your paddle enjoyable!
When you voluntarily participate in one of the outdoor sports, there are certain risks associated with it. So please read the below information carefully. If you agree with it, you can join our group's activities. As a condition of your voluntary participation in this activity you acknowledge and agree to the following: this activity involves inherent risks that can cause property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death to participants and/or others; you assume all risk associated with this activity; you are responsible for having the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, clothing, and equipment to safely participate in this activity.
The leader(s) of this activity are volunteers; and you release, hold harmless, and indemnify the leader(s) and all members of this group from any and all claims for property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death - including those caused by negligence and/or other reasons.
This group operates trips under the Common Adventure Model (CAM). You can find details about the CAM model under the Discussions section of this website. There are no formal trip leaders or guides, unless an event is specifically listed that way. Decisions are made collectively by the group. Each paddler assumes responsibility for his/her own safety and understands the risk associated with kayaking and canoeing. That said, the purpose of the group is to get people paddling together in groups, where paddlers can provide assistance to one another should the need arise.
