Made in the Shade Beer Festival - Flagstaff

HERE WE GO AGAIN!

There will be free shuttle service to/from MITS 2013! We're teaming up with NAIPTA (Mountain Line Buses) to get people to and from the event. Here's the scoop:

Pickup/dropoff points:
-Downtown transfer station (on Phoenix Ave)
-Wal-mart bus stop (on Beulah Blvd)

Times (approx.):
11a - 1p: every 15 minutes
1p - 4p: every 30 minutes
4p - 6p: every 15 minutes

You can ride ANY of the Mountain Line routes for free if you tell them that you are going to the Festival. They will get you to the pickup points, you get onto the correct bus and then you come to the Festival!

I already have excellent accomodations at the USAF Rec Center at Ft Tuthill across the fence from the BeerFest It's also adjacent to the campgrounds where the riff-raff stay, so we can still party with them until WE decide to call it a night.

Ft Tuthill quarters are hotel-like or really nice kitchenette cabins, and include a FREE all-you-can-eat cookout on Friday night.  There are also camp/RV sites available with access to REAL bathrooms (very important on Sunday morning when the Connty campground facilities are overflowing!).

We can fit 4-8+ people into each cabin. Last year, I slept in the brisk mountain air on the porch under the stars! Worst case scenario appears to be <$30/night per person! WOW!

We can carpool up, party at local breweries in Flag that evening after dinner (did I mention FREE dinner?), get a good night's sleep, and then hit the BeerFest on Saturday!

You can also contact me about volunteering, as Keevin & I did a few years back. I'll be pouring for part of the afternoon.

If you want a reservation at Ft Tuthill, contact me ASAPSpace is limited. I currently have two cabins reserved, first-come, first served: http://www.forttuthill.com/hotel.html

Kristin, Anne... Scottsdale Beer Club has two campsites, B21 & B22. If we run out of room, another meetup group as the group campsite reserved. I'm sure there will be room.

There are a few of us heading up on Friday for a Pre-Beer Fest party. We should get the party started at one of the local breweries and bounce to another and another brewery all night. If you want to meetup, send me a text at[masked] and I will let you know where we are drinking!

Forecast for Flagstaff on Saturday, 82 high, 41 low. Won't that be a wonderful break from the valley heat. Brisk in the morning! Can't wait. B

Hey, Scottsdale Beer Club worked out a discount for the Flagstaff festival. $35 and no service fee. Do this soon! I mean today or tomorrow. We need to get the 20 minimum, which shouldn't be a problem, but there is also a maximum and potential for the festival to sell out. If you're going, this is a no brainer. $5 off plus, no service fee!

Use this link, or just put SBC as the promo code. See you there.

Anyone still thinking of camping and needing a spot?

    • Freddy

Anyone have trouble with the SBC discount code to get tix for $35 no service fee? Who was able to purchase?

      June 17, 2013

    • Freddy

We reached our limit of 50 discount tickets, but they have added another 25 tickets today, so get them while they are available.

    June 14, 2013

Just wanted to follow up regarding the camping you reserved since most sites limit the amount of cars per site. I most likely won't get there until 7pm. Will that be a problem? otherwise I'll contact Kenton regarding lodge.

    June 10, 2013

    • Freddy

There is a parking lot right outside the campground and I believe one inside too. Another meetup has the group campsite and welcomed us to park there too. Don't sweat it. Everything is pretty close.

      June 10, 2013

    • anne

Ok. Can't wait to meet the group then!!

Is there still room in the camping or cabin lodging??? Also, I wouldn't be able to get to Flag until 7pm. Does that work for either of these options?

    May 10, 2013

    • Freddy

We haven't discussed equipment needs in detail yet. I'm bringing a tent trailer and there will be a large tent on other site. It's possible to bring more tents, yes. We'll finalize # of campers and equipment as we get closer. I'm sure Kenton will respond too...

      May 10, 2013

    • Kenton

Yeah, I need a confirmation by phone call (that's why I published my number) or an email. 7PM is fine.

      May 11, 2013

  • Kenton

7 wks out - There is limited space indoors in the Ft Tuthill cabins - first-confirmed/paid get the choice of accommodations. You can pitch a tent outside if you want to be rustic, yet still enjoy full Ft Tuthill facilities: FRI dinner, use of the bathrooms, kitchens, etc. I plan to sleep on the porch -rain or shine!

    April 29, 2013

    • anne

Is there still room inside the cabins? If so, I'd like to be added to that list.

      May 7, 2013

    • Kenton

OK. We have room. I need your confirmation. E-mail or call me.

I see there is a $5 discount for groups of 20 or more. I'm coordinating a group purchase through the Scottsdale Beer Club on meetup. Let me know if you want in on the group purchase.

Hey all, I'll be a the Scottsdale Beer Club's Happy Hour at the Brat Haus this Wednesday if anyone want to stop by and drop off money to get in on the group rate for Made in the Shade.

Sorry, Kenton. I'm out this year. Don't think that I'll be in the mood to party for awhile.

    Where is everyone staying?

    April 20, 2013

    • Freddy

Camping next to fest. Have room for more. Kenton is organizing cabins near the festival. Others are getting hotels in town.

      April 21, 2013

  • Freddy

Two of us have camp sites reserved adjacent to the festival. No Driving! With the two sites, we can accommodate 16 people. If anyone is interested in camping, let me know. Will be setting camp Friday night, visiting the Flagstaff Breweries that night, Beerfest on Saturday, then breaking camp Sunday morning.
