Every juror has a right to judge the law as well as the facts of a case. Unfortunately, many jurors do not know this and the judge certainly won't inform them. Jury Nullification has been used for centuries as a final peaceful check on government abuse. For more information visit www.fija.org.
This is a simple pamphleting operation to educate the public about their rights when selected for jury duty. We will be passing out flyers from the Fully Informed Jury Association. We will stand on public sidewalks and will not be soliciting. 7:15 - 8:15 AM - Crosswalk at the jurors' parking deck 8:15 - 9:15 AM - Busy street corners (optional)
Police have ignored us so far, but standard precautions should be followed. If cops say leave, don't argue. Get their name and badge number, and we will follow up.
In addition to pamphleteers, we need videographers for accountability. Two or three people are enough for each shift. Bring a video camera or camera phone if possible.
This operation needs to be repeated as often as possible. Let me know if you would like to take ownership of an additional shift. Ideally, we need a crew there every morning. Afternoon shifts (2-4 PM) are also needed. Please call Jim Babb at[masked] or email [masked] to set up additional shifts.
RSVP accuracy is very important so we have the right number of people attending. Please call[masked] the night before the event to confirm your attendance and check for last minute details.
If possible, please print some of these tri-folds and bring them with you.
