Gabe Brown will tell us about how Microsoft is creating hyper-productive teams with Scrum. Join us for a glimpse into a company that is often the topic of many a developer conversation.
Agenda: We?re going to talk about a few things:
1. About Us ? Who we are, what do we do
2. Scrum Refresher ? Quick 5 minute refresher of the roles
3. Who?s using Scrum?
4. How teams inside Microsoft work ? What structure we have, how are we setup?
5. What practices and culture do to support Scrum at MS?
6. What kind of results have we achieved?
7. Questions Assumptions: Audience has an idea on what Scrum is and knows the basics.
This is going to be business focused, achieving an ROI by eliminating waste is the mantra of the talk.
Bio: Gabe Brown is a passionate agile practitioner and focuses on delivering real business value and eliminating the common problems seen in the computing field. Gabe graduated from The Ohio State University while working for an Internet start-up for 5 years. After graduating, he co-founded a consulting firm that focused on working with manufacturers in Ohio and across the United States. After his business partner left, he came to Microsoft and began learning about Agile development. Gabe became a Certified ScrumMaster by bringing Scrum co-creator Dr. Jeff Sutherland to Microsoft to train employees. Gabe is also working with Microsoft Research on publishing a research paper on the effectiveness of Scrum. He is currently researching the roots of Scrum within the Toyota Production System and how these learning?s can be leveraged to help more teams achieve ?hyper-productivity with Scrum?.
