About the position:

The Junior Software Developer is an integral member of Nerd Corps small, fast-paced software development team. They strive to provide the best of their abilities to our crews’ production needs in an efficient and effective manner. Acting as a webmaster, the Junior Software Developer will work with a few key people in the company to enhance our Nerd Corps website. The Junior Software Developer will also help the team to maintain and develop some our animation pipeline’s tools.

This entry level individual is proactive and possesses a broad knowledge of modern web technologies and will be involved in maintaining our Nerd Corps website as well as building other complex, reliable tools using a web interface.

Responsibilities and duties:
•Working with production staff to enhance our Nerd Corps website by building customized Word Press plugins
•Developing and maintaining in-house client/server web-based applications and various production pipeline tools.
•Assisting the Software team to oversee issues with the render farm
•Liaising with production staff to implement new tools and processes to aid their needs.

Qualifications and experience:
•B.Sc in Computing Science or equivalent experience.
•Good working knowledge of web-based technologies including PHP, JavaScript, JQuery, VBScript, AJAX/JSON and HTML/CSS.
•Solid foundation with software development methodologies, client/server paradigm and object-oriented paradigms.
•Ability to read/write SQL and knowledge of relational database design. Experience with MySQL is preferred.
•Must be able to write clean and maintainable code.
•Basic knowledge of Photoshop
•Ability to take direction well and execute on a project with limited supervision.
•Quick learner with excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills.

The following skills are not essential but, would be a great asset:
•Experience/knowledge of building WordPress plugins
•User Interface design experience
•Knowledge of C++ or Java
•Background in computer graphics to help understand the production work performed at Nerd Corps.
•Knowledge of 3D Animation tools such as Autodesk Softimage or Maya
