Louise Erdrich, Tracks (1988)

Some ideas for discussion :

1. Narration, style, and meaning - who's telling the story?
2. Inter- generational relationships
3. The politics of missionary activity
4. Nature, culture, and the supernatural elements of the story
5. Gender
6. Land and title

So sorry - my arthritic spine is not up to the 2-hour journey to/from the Tipper today.

I saw this today-Sunday-and it just broke my heart. I am soooo willing and eager to pick you up and take you home, Patricia! As it was, only James and I had read the book-and it is excellent! I knew you would have much to say b/c of your background and general thorough approach.Boy, I wish you'd call me when you want to come. I am sincerely wishing you'd come along. I'd like to reschedule "Tracks" for next time...I don't know what we are doing next.

Regi, thanks so much re a ride. I'd love the opportunity to discuss "Tracks". Actually, I'm reading it a second time now, for its nuances.

    Hi all,
I didn't realize there's no e-book version of Tracks, so I'm moving it out 2 weeks to give people more time - I do think it's well worth reading!

Is there any chance of moving this book forward? I'd love to attend but am away for the month of January.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
