Who likes a little Shakespeare?

Join us for an afternoon performance of Twelfth Night at Bard on the Beach.

Twelfth Night

Directed by Dennis Garnhum • BMO Mainstage

Spirits are lifted, hearts are mended, and love is sought and won at the What You Will Hotel and Spa. It’s 1913 and in the pampered world of a fine European spa, everyone is falling in love with someone who is not exactly who they seem. Feste, the lobby lounge singer, entertains, Toby Belch and Andrew Aguecheek create mischief and Malvolio, the annoyingly pretentious hotel manager, threatens to spoil all the fun. Can young Viola ultimately find renewal and true love on the grounds of Olivia’s sumptuous hotel? Come and find out at the spa that lets you relax and renew in a glorious celebration of love!

Buy tickets here: http://www.bardonthebeach.org/2013/twelfth-night

($30 per person - choose your seats - June 30th, 2pm performance)

NOTE: if you sign up to come out, you are responsible for getting your ticket ahead of time as the performance is expected to sell out. If you come out and you don't have prepaid tickets, and you attempt to get tickets at the gate - you do so at your own risk! You may get there and find that the show has sold out.

Ok Trish will not be attending so I say we meet around 1 to 1:15 in the lobby aka court yard. Hazzahh who's with me? Please chime in before Sunday so we know exactly who to watch for. Let's also chat about future events.

Has everyone got their tickets? Let's plan where we meet.

Well I suggest that we meet between 1 and 2 in the lobby before going in. They serve Wine and sandwiches at the concessions. We could also meet after since many of us are meeting for the first time.
    Anyone got any ideas?

Oh man I was just researching some Vineyards out in Langley and I found one that has a small Shakespeare fest starting in mid July. Anyone up for a Vineyard tour, a little wine tasting? The play they will be performing is Comedy of Errors. Anyone into this idea. Look up Bard in the Valley. tickets for this is only $20.

So we haved to get 12 people right? I'll post in some of my other groups.

    April 22, 2013

    • Trish

Hi Paul, I just checked on the Bard site and it's only $30 for premium seats for the June 30 2pm performance, and the group discount doesn't apply. So if you're geared to go, maybe we should just go ahead and buy individual tickets and post the event and see who shows up?

      April 22, 2013

    • Paul M. B.

Right oh ok. I announced it and will in other groups as well. 30 sounds great.

      April 23, 2013

  • Paul M. B.

Nice hope we get a few others to go. Let me know about any discounts they offer. I'll buy 2 tickets as soon as they come available.

    April 22, 2013

  • Trish

Hi Paul, I need to check with the contact at Bard to ensure we can get the group discount. If your other friends want to join this group to join us, then great because I really think I'll be asking for 50% payment up front (via Paypal) to secure spots and to conform with Bard's group pricing.

I will get on it with the Bard folks to see if your suggested date of June 30 is free for the group discount and get back to you here.

    April 21, 2013

    • Trish

Oh, I think we'll definitely get 12 folks from the group to come out. I'm not worried about that :)

There's a 2pm performance Sunday June 30th or a few 7pm Sundays. Also some 8pm shows on Friday's in June. Then Elizabeth Rex in July. Of course Hamlet is on Saturday nights in June but I've
seen that one. Like to focus on plays I haven't seen. Once we set a date I can suggest it in some other groups too.

Great I'm thinking a Saturday night or Sunday day time. I'll have a look at the schedule and suggest some dates. Last summer I watched the film Anonymous and got inspired to see some of the plays that I've never seen. Saw Macbeth last season. Enjoyed the night very much. Buying tickets early is a great thought. Last year we bought at the last minute and where seated way up top which would have been fine except it started to rain hard in the beginning and it was hard to hear. It settled down and then it was fine. Want to sit closer to stage this time.

No apart from the emails I get from them. That sounds great I was thinking Twelth night on a Saturday or Sunday. Think we could generate any interest? My wife and I would be 2.

    April 15, 2013

    • Trish

Ah, okay. Twelfth Night sounds good but I can't settle on a date right now as my schedule is unpredictable. What dates or months did you have in mind? I think the deal is we get a good price break if we pay 50% up front. I've got an email out to one of the PR people and I hope to hear back regarding more details of how it works. Let's keep this idea alive and keep working on it.

      April 18, 2013

  • Trish

Hi Paul, thanks for your suggestion. Have you been in touch with the Bard promoters - I think there's a reduced fee for more than 12 in a group.
