Dear Vancouver Greens,
A year and a half ago, I took over as the organiser of the Vancouver Greens Meetup Group after the previous organiser stepped down. I didn't want to see this group disappear into the four winds, and had ambitions to revive it with regular monthly meet-ups that would bring green-minded people from across the city together at this critical moment in history, when we must work together and find cohesion like never before.
Unfortunately, after a fairly promising first few months, I became and remain extremely busy with other projects, and have not had the time to organise this Meetup group. This has caused it to largely languish, even though new members are joining all the time, and we are now up to an impressive 163 members! Clearly, there is a desire among Vancouver greens to be connected.
Another thing that has changed since I became the organiser is that I am not currently in a position to continue paying the Organiser Dues ($72 every 6 months) all on my own. My dues expire at the end of today, at which point the group will have a few days to get together the money, or be deleted from Meetup. Therefore, I would like to request your help with the following:
1. If you would like to see this group continue, please click on this link and make a pledge to contribute a small amount of money towards the organiser dues before January 19th at 6pm. There are many members of the group, so even small contributions (as small as $2) can add up quickly to the amount of money we need. If I see pledges of at least $50, I will renew the organiser dues and keep the group going.
2. Would you like to help organise meetups for this group? As I say, I am not in a position to organise regular meetups due to too many other commitments at the moment, but it would be great if a few other people could do so. I could make you co-organisers of the group, and let you know how we went about organising previous meetups. If this is something you can help with, please contact me!
Thanks so much, and hope to see you at a future Meetup!
