This event is totally relevant to us, and making Vancouver a greener place! What a great way to incentivize business to take the leap to go "green". Check it out!

Drink Coffee. Save the Planet.
Join the CarrotMob.

We challenged five Main Street coffee shops to go "green", and in return we would hold an awesome one day event called the CarrotMob - organizing hundreds of people to drop by, enjoy a great coffee, prizes, live music and have their money make an impact!

Salt Spring Coffee won the challenge by committing 110% of their revenues from the CarrotMob to improving their coffee shop's energy efficiency.

Find out more about the Carrotmob at

The CarrotMob will be on Sunday May 16th. Revenues from the entire day count towards the CarrotMob, but prizes and live music will be happening between 11:00am to 2:00pm. It's all free!

The CarrotMob will be at Salt Spring Coffee on the corner of 27th Ave and Main St, Vancouver.

Join Us! Tell Your Friends! Facebook Event:

When: Sunday May 16, all day! (11:00am - 2:00pm prizes, music, and fun)
Where: Salt Spring Coffee, 27th and Main St, Vancouver

I have to say that this is not a Green idea at all. This is called Green Washing.

A better idea would be to promote the arrest of coffee drinking all together. Better yet, have Carrotmob be devoted to a place that is local to our watershed. Like bringing hundreds of people together to support wild salmon, or bringing hundreds of people together to demand immediate legislation to stop tanker traffic and drilling off the coast of BC.

I saw the leader of the Greens speak tonight and her talk, in combination with this very lame idea is certainly going to make me leave this Green Party and almost certainly not vote for the Greens.

It's always easier to be an armchair critic than to take action. If you are truly Green, instead of attacking someone who is trying to make a difference, you should devote your energy to helping the movement. As Greens we need to be supportive of one another. I think it's great that you want to bring hundreds of people together to stop offshore drilling and tanker traffic. Go for it!
