NOVEMBER - IndigoReads Book Club

This book is a dramatic memoir of a woman whose curiosity led her to the world's most beautiful and remote places and then into fifteen months of harrowing captivity. At the age of nineteen, working as a cocktail waitress in Calgary, Amanda Lindhout began saving her tips so she could travel the globe. She backpacked through Latin America, Laos, Bangladesh, India, and went on to Sudan, Syria, and Pakistan. In war-ridden Afghanistan and Iraq she carved out a fledgling career as a television reporter. And then, in August 2008, she traveled to Somalia where on her fourth day she was abducted by a group of masked men along a dusty road. On sale September 10th. Are your meetings always on Thursdays? This is the only night of the week that I have permanently booked.

I have not had a chance to read this book so I will not be coming to November's meeting. See you in December!

Yes it is! Even if you can't make it to the discussion we still suggest you add it to your reading list!

Sooo disappointed. I have so much to say about this book and was looking forward to discussing it. Unfortunately my flight was moved up and I need to be at the airport by 9. Have to admit...the book made me just a little bit nervous since I'm going to SE asia. Not nervous enough to cancel tho ;) See you all next time!

I cannot wait to talk about this book. I'm not going to lie, this may be a therapy book club for me this week!

Is there a large table/enough tables to accommodate all 20+ people for this upcoming book club meeting at the Robson location? How did it work with 15 people last time it was hosted? Also what floor will this be on (3rd?).

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
