Ernest In Love : a musical in concert

Applause Musicals Society present their 41st "musical in concert": Ernest In Love (1960).

** PLAYING May 2, 3 and 4 **

May 2 @ 2pm (seniors matinee - free tea/cookies)
May 2/3/4 @ 7pm

An enticing musical version of a classic theatrical staple, Ernest In Love is based on Oscar Wilde's sparkling play about social hypocrisy among the creme de la creme of Victorian England. Two young gentlemen well versed in the art of "Bunburying" (using a fictitious relative as an alibi to circumvent the responsibilities of proper social behavior) are beside themselves when they find their innocent fabrications taking over their love lives.

A faithful adaptation of Wilde's comic masterpiece, Ernest In Love features all of its much-beloved characters and most of the same production demands, with the addition of a small band. The clever, tuneful score is the perfect complement to Wilde's incomparable wordplay and immortal witticisms in this delightful reworking of what has been called "the funniest play in the English language."

Tickets $20 in advance (same price for 15 years!) or $25 day of/door (except seniors matinee which is $10).

I've got a concert on that Friday night, so I'll cast my vote for either Thursday or Saturday

Hi everyone! So sorry I can no longer go to this show :-( I've seen one "musical in concert" before & it was FAB!! Let me know if I can help everyone get ticket, else I shall be happy to leave it up to the group to organise for yourselves ;-)

Ah, great to see some interest in this show! :) I'm still overseas and don't have access to my personal social calendar, but am wondering which night is best for everyone to see this? :)

What the critics have said about Ernest In Love: "Delightful ... This small gem retains the Wilde story of jumbled identities and thwarted romances but somehow manages to squeeze in a batch of songs."

"Enjoyable and fast-moving." - The New York Times "This faithful adaptation retains most of Wilde's original wordplay while adding several clever and playful songs." - Associated Press "An engaging variation on a classic. Charming... a fresh and likable musical show." - New York Post
