Quick question Beier, you mentioned that you performed async processing in conjunction with scheduled tasks. What do you use as a task scheduler? Thanks!

    • Beier C.

Brian, it's just a simple cron job, runs at scheduled time, collects all tasks, then farms them out to remote workers to be processed in parallel

Thanks everyone for coming, and especially to Ravi for organizing, and Saem and Beier for presenting. Look forward to the next one!

Hey Simon, do you guys have any plans to record the meetup presentations in the future? It would provide a lot of exposure for the hosted group(s) & Hootsuite itself.

For sure - recording these and posting somewhere is on the radar.

Disappointed by the PHPUnit talk - too high level for a room full of developers and the speed was way too fast. Would have liked to see some simple implementations. Async talk was excellent - very informative and live examples were a nice touch.

Where can we find the slides from the presentation?

Hi Chris, I'll get in touch with Saem and Beier in re: to the slides. I should have something posted, either a link or the slide files, soon.

PHPUnit - Good intro, though I agree with the other comments, rather rushed. Would be cool to see code in action.

Async Processing - very good intro, touched upon different methods, focused on preferred method, awesome demo. Definitely going to look into 0mq.

Great venue and turnout! Really enjoyed the introduction to PHPUnit and ZeroMQ ... and conversations with members. Will have to *reserve* the Pub next time. Thanks again everyone!

    nearest parking lot?

    April 28, 2013

    • Adam H.

I don't know about lots in particular, but there's a reasonable amount of street parking around the area.

    Hi

Argh! Not another developer meeting early in the week! I have my regular business seminars that I commit to! I'm a graphic designer with my own company (Biju Creative) who would like to meet other programmers, esp. those who know PHP & Javascript, to work with on client projects!

Looks like I'm going to have to pass up on this meeting (again!) but if any of you would like to get in touch with me, you can visit my page: www.bijucreative.com (and like me on Facebook!) www.facebook.com/BijuCreative.

Hope to meet all you fabulous programmers some day!
