Of course, we have to kick off the year with a Gastown Photowalk. Gastown was host to our very first photowalk and it is always a great place to photograph, NO matter the time of year or the weather!
We will meet just before 5pm outside Waterfront Station. From there we will walk down into Gastown and around the Gastown area. We will finish up at about 7:00 pm and meet for coffee at Coffeebar - 10 Water Street.
Some things to remember:
1. What should I bring with me?
You will need a camera....It doesn't matter if you have a point and shoot camera or a Digital SLR, either one is fine. The important thing is to make sure you have charged the batteries and it is ready to go. If you have a DSLR, think carefully about what you will shoot, don't bring a whole backpack of lenses and kit, you will have to carry it for 2 hours. If you like, you can bring a tripod, remember you will need to carry it. Bring sufficient memory cards and make sure that they are all in working order. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, you will be walking for 2 hours and crouching down, bending over and getting into all sorts of positions for that one amazing shot...so be sure you are comfortable
2. How long does the walk take?
We will walk for 2 hours, which sounds like a long time but it really isn't that long. We will walk a predetermined route, but we don't have to stay together as a full group all the time. You can pair off or go in threes. The idea though is to be within sight of each other and to share with each other what you are shooting. Once the two hours are up, make your way back to the agreed meeting place to share your images and chat with the rest of the group about what you were looking for.
