Van Dusen Gardens British Car Show - $16.00 Admission Fee

  • May 17, 2014 · 9:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Van Dusen gardens are hosting the All British Field Meet (ABFM) with over 600 classic and vintage British automobiles on display: Minis, Triumphs, Jaguars, Bentleys, Rovers, MGs, Sunbeams, Morgans, etc.

The event is rain or shine and is a great opportunity to take photos of rare cars, their proud owners, and the crowd.

Admission is $16 for adults, purchased at the gate, and gets you entrance to the car show and the full grounds.

Let’s meet at the North end of the parking lot at 9:30am.  From there we’ll watch the cars arriving and then enter the grounds and stroll through the show. You can spend more than two hours, easily (if you like cars).

The Van Dusen Gardens are located at 5251 Oak Street at the corner of 37th Ave, between Oak & Granville Streets.  It is served by the #17 Oak bus.  Parking is on Oak Street and the many side streets in the neighbourhood.

Photo opportunities: cool cars, rare cars, very expensive cars, people and the Van Dusen Gardens themselves. Following the meet-up, feel free to share up to eight (8) of your best images.

AT ALL TIMES, PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF YOURSELF AND YOUR FELLOW PHOTO WALKERS, YOUR PROPERTY AND YOUR SURROUNDINGS!

Hope to see you there,

Chris

I'm wondering if we can post more than 8 photos? Perhaps people showed up late, but it looked like there were only 10 or so of us....? (haha, really I'm having trouble choosing :)

I had trouble choosing too. :) If anyone's curious to see more of mine, I've put 15 here: https://www.flickr.com...

I got busy with work (and taking more photos) so I just got around to posting some of my favourites. I hope more people show their work.

What a lovely day - the weather was perfect, the cars & motorcycles were fantastic, and the crepes were delicious. Who could ask for more? :) Thank you everyone & thank you Chris for organizing!!

Thanks all for coming. We had a great day: plenty of sunshine (no rain), plenty of cars and the Gardens themselves.

My feet are sore, my ears and back of my neck are sun burnt, and I have many, many photos to sort through. It must have been a good day!

It was a pleasure meeting some new photowalk members, and touching base with familiar faces.

Remember to post up to 8 of your best shots.

    Cheers!

    Sorry, running a bit late.

The show runs from 10am until 4pm so, if you can't make it earlier and still want to see classic cars, you can always come later.

The awards are given out later in the day and the cars' start leaving at 4pm. There are some fun shots to be had watching the cars driving down the paths of the gardens and through canopies and arches.

A food tent with barbequed burgers, hot dogs, and sausages at reasonable prices is available. You can also eat at the garden's restaurant (pricey) or pack a lunch.

Let's hope for good weather and don't forget your hat and sunscreen!

    Cheers.

I live in Coquitlam and can offer rides for 3 people. However, I will be going at 8:15am and will likely stay until the show ends at 4pm (I really like old British cars). Contact me if you need a lift.

Hi Chris, are you still offering a ride? I live in Coquitlam as well and would love a lift. I'm planning on staying the whole day too...beautiful gardens & classic cars - what's not to love?!?
