The biggest birthday celebration outside of Ottawa takes place here in Vancouver...the Annual Canada Day at Canada Place!
There will be lots to photograph including street entertainers, amazing music and dance performances, extreme sports, food carts and cuisine, a citizenship ceremony, a celebration of Canadian inventions, the Port Metro Vancouver zone, the Pacific Princess Cruise ship and with an estimated crowd of 250,000, some very "interesting" people and their pets. What should I bring:
A camera, it doesn't matter if you have a cameraphone, a point and shoot camera or a digital SLR, any camera is fine....because of the large crowds maybe minimal gear.
Make sure you wear some red & white and be sure you are comfortable and dressed for whatever our unpredictable weather may be that day.....
Where will we meet?
We will meet in front of the Waterfront Skytrain Station just before 10:00 AM then proceed from there to Canada Place. The photo-walk will last 2 hours, but feel free to stay as long as you like. Unfortunately the restaurants won't take reservations, so we won't be officially meeting up after.....if anyone is interested in lunch, perhaps we can head somewhere and take a chance we will get in without much of a wait!
How do I get there?
You can catch a bus, the seabus or skytrain. Check your route details on Google Map or at www.translink.ca. You can also drive.....for information on downtown parking lots.....www.bestparking.com/vancouver-parking.
We are enthusiastic about photography and lovers of the City of Vancouver and the GVRD....however we may not be able to answer any technical questions you may have...there may be more skilled members participating on the walk to answer your questions...just check out the RSVP list and look for our MENTORS...if not Barry J. Brady has kindly offered to answer any questions by email.
