Where will we meet?:
We will meet at the Steveston Landing under the Fishermans Wharf sign (see pic below.) Steveston Landing is on Bayview Street and if you come up Second ave in Steveston you will come up to the Steveston Landing. We will meet here at 16:45 and begin the walk at 5pm sharp. We will walk down to the Brittannia Shipyard area and then walk back to the Waves Coffee Shop on 1st and Bayview for a chat and to compare photos!

Steveston has some amazing photo opportunities, lots of fishing boats, river scenes and beautiful buildings. We will also walk along the water frontage to the Brittania Shipyards which has some great heritage buildings and interesting history, take a look at this link to read more:

1. What should I bring?
2. What can I shoot?
There are plenty of fishing boats, old canneries, heritage buildings and river scenes. There will also be plenty of people out on the day, so people and street photography should be good too! Lots and lots of photo opps.
3. How do I get there?
You can drive out there, it is best to use Google Maps if you are driving.
If you are using public Transit, you may need to use the Skytrain and then a bus to Steveston, there are a few combinations, so check on the Transit website or use Google Maps, there is public transit to within a block of the meeting place.
Look forward to seeing you there!

Really enjoyed the day. Didn't begin to get the shots I wanted. Will have to go again. Many who went took some really good photos. This has been the best I've been on.

Hi, Kelly and Paul,
Thanks for your comments on my two pictures. The chickens were at the backyard of the last house when I walked towards the East of the Maritime festival.

Great day. Didn't get into the shipyards as they closed at 6:00. But I was there early and enjoyed some of the Maritime Festival and did the cannery tour. Bonnie and I finally left at 11:30PM after a long chat. Thanks Barry and Simon for you rhelp with my camera and my questions.

I think this place has a good sunset view. The shipyards was closed at 6 p.m.
Today I might go again to see the shipyards inside.

I love this...great to meet people and do what you love. Seeing how I can't walk as far as you and the others went. I do teach and help new photographers at my club so if you get new people out that don't want to move and want help I could help you out in that way...love to do it.

Eileen, you need to change your own RSVP. Go into your RSVP and change your YES for the waitlist to a NO and that will take you off the list.
August 9
What's chances of getting to Fisherman's Wharf next Sat. I'm about 15th I think on the waitlist

Hi Neil, I posted a comment earlier on the parking situations around Steveston.
July 17
Sooo that raises the old question of parking.... It will be scarce!! Be prepared, since close by to the Village, residents get top billing as you'd expect. Can you check for options for us Kelly?!
July 17
Ah yes. Attended once , without camera( oops). Will investigate for a return next year.
July 16
Hi Neil, they rarely open the shipyard buildings and docks. If you're interested to see them, a good time is in May when the city of Richmond holds it's annual Doors Open event.
July 16
Any chances we get any special access in the shipyard? Docks? The "public" views I've seen a number of times, although not exhausted the possibilities.
July 16
I've only just noticed this - have the meeting times always been officially 15 mins prior to the posted walk start?
July 16
My home! Regarding parking, if they aren't filming, there is a large pay parking area on Chatham Street. There is also free parking around on the streets if you can find some. Also, Garry Point Park is a short walk (5-10 minutes) from the meetup spot and there is plenty of free parking there as well.
July 16
Was there over the weekend and they were filming something here ... Well known for 'once upon a time' ... Might be some people shooting chances as well ;-)
