Friendly Coed Pick-up Soccer

Hi All,

This is our weekly friendly pick up game.

Rules:

-Keep it friendly! No slide tackles or rough play

-Anyone over 16 can play

-No corner kicks, balls out the back go for a goal kick

-Try to bring a white and a dark (black or dark blue) shirt

We meet at the North West Corner of Trout Lake, during the winter we may play on the nearby gravel pitch.

See you there!

I really enjoyed it and look forward to making it out on a regular basis.

I'd like to tell everyone on the sight that friendliness is the priority, and if you want to play a serious game, another group would be more suitable for you. Quality play is good, but not at the expense of good attitude. I'm not sure anybody did anything wrong today, I just want to remind us all that it's a friendly co-ed community game. ;)

    Thanks for the comment, Amber.
I'm not sure what happened today since I was at the other field. We got displaced from one field by some grumpy people having a BBQ & playing soccer. It could have been them that she talked to. Amber also ran into them I think. :(
We very much encourage women to come out, and I've never seen them ignored before. If members of this group did ignore or treat her differently, I'd be displeased about that.

There will be more girls participating in the game. For today, Amber signed up, did she go ? - Don't worry, there are girls that are members of the meetup group, some show up, some dont.
I have played a few times without girls, so it depends on what activities they do as well.
I agree, it is dissapointed to experience what you mentioned but there are girls registred for soccer.

Taila, Good afternoon... I am sad to read your comment and i understand you. There are girls registered on the website for the soccer meetups, not just one or two or three. I have seen at least four in the latest meetings and some are not regular.
At least two weeks ago I got this video that shows one of our regular girls playing. I don't know if she went to play today since i could not make it. There are girls registered in the meetup for soccer, but some of them just don't show up to play.

Kid of disappointed. I went to Trout lake this afternoon to find about 20 men and no women. That isn't really coed. And having 1-2 girls playing with 20 other guys is not coed either.
Most of the time when the ratio is that low the girls are ignored while the guys play. Who wants to have that kind of experience?

Put it this way... In January when the temperature was so cold and snowing, we were playing. Even the guy from "The Weather Network" came to the field to film us play in the snow

Ok, that's great and thanks guys for the encouragement. I will RSVP and hope to see you and the 'ladies' too! One question, do you guys play rain or shine?

@ Rose: Hello Rose, yes there has been girls playing the game. I will prove it at least with this video taken 2 days ago (after we played, some of us decided to play a bit more)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48D3Pshf-GM&feature=channel&list=UL

Yep, your gender is not a good reason not to come. Don't be shy, you wont be the only female player.

Hi Rose. The people who sign up only constitute about half of those that come. We've had two girls coming out every week for a while now, and I expect that might be the case this week again.

Hmmm...feeling a bit shy since it looks like I am the only female attending. Maybe I will pass for this week. Sorry Riley, I was hoping to see more ladies come out :(!
