Whether you're new to screenwriting or have already written a couple of scripts, this informative 3-hour class will give you the tools you need to take the first real steps towards achieving your screenwriting goals.
You will be introduced to the many topics listed below, learn about resources and tools to add to your screenwriting toolbox, and find out what you need to succeed in the industry.
In the first half we'll explore the foundations of the craft:
- What is a screenplay?
- Structure - from slug lines and transitions to flashbacks and intercuts
- Story - more than just beginning, middle, and end
- Money - setting expectations
- Screenwriting vs. Television Writing
- The film and television industry
*Dialogue is a massive topic and entire courses are offered to cover it alone. We'll cover a lot of ground but this is not a master class on dialogue.
By the end of this class you'll have a solid understanding of screenwriting and be well on your way to taking the first (or next!) few steps towards getting that first writing job.
In the next class, Screenwriting 201, we'll discuss how to take a finished screenplay, send it out into the world, and land that first writing job.
Anyone attending both Screenwriting 101 and 201 classes, the price is $30 (you save $10).
