Book Club Discussion Group: How to Win Friends & Influence People - Part 4 of 4

  • This location is shown only to members

We will be meeting weekly at a local coffee shop to discuss the book How to Win Friends and Influence People. I just picked up my copy at Kestrel Books on West 4th Avenue near Alma for $5, used. They have 2 more copies. Chapters also sells it, or you can find a pdf version for free by Googling "How to Win Friends and Influence People pdf"

You can also find the audio version on YouTube

We will meet weekly to discuss a section of the book, then we may meet monthly to review what we've been practicing. We decided in the first meeting that we will discuss one part of the book each meeting (there are 4 parts). If you need to miss a week, no problem, just stay caught up with the reading on your own.

The fourth discussion will be based on Part Four: Be a Leader: How to Change People Without Giving Offense or Arousing Resentment

Plus we will be discussing our homework from last meeting. Because it will help you to learn, as well as the rest of the group, please be prepared to share at least one real life story/example of how you used your new skills in the past week. One tip the book provides is to make it a game with your friends or family, have them charge you money every time they catch you complaining or not appreciating when you could be (kind of like a swear jar, pay them a quarter or a loonie when they catch you criticizing). Then we can all report our results,

There is no fee for this event but please be prepared to purchase a beverage or snack for the use of the coffee shop. Please also read the section we will be covering, come prepared to stay on topic and be supportive and respectful of other group members. Thank you.
