North Shore Canada Day Parade (map)
Many of the Vancouver-area science fiction clubs are planning to march together in the North Shore Canada Day parade, as a way to raise awareness of fandom and the fan clubs of greater Vancouver. Some will be in costume, others may hold signs or props. I know that there are at least a few of us with Stargate-themed costumes and toys (tell me I'm not the only one!). I think it could be fun to get out there and show our love for Stargate. The parade route isn't too long, so it's not a long time commitment or too long to be out in the sun. We have two months, so there's time to plan something interesting.
As many of us are involved in more than one group, it would be useful to RSVP to the group you're planning to march with, to get an estimate of the number for the entry form.
The ongoing discussion for all the groups is at:

The event begins with breakfast being served at 8:00am on Grand Boulevard Park at 14th Street with proceeds going to a local charity. The parade begins at 10:00 at 13th Street & Grand Boulevard and proceeds down 13th Street to Lonsdale, turning north on Lonsdale. At 17th Street the parade again heads west where it will end at Mahon Park.
WOW something I can actually attend. I have to work that afternoon. But in the morning I can be there. And how funny that we will be right where they filmed Sam's house and Grand Bvld Park for SG1!!
I will get to the parade site as fast as I can. The buses are a pain on holidays. So will be there as soon as I can (trying to coordinate the routes and times!!!
Hey, the photos that everyone has uploaded here and at the Browncoat meetup group so far are great! I'm wondering where people with videos (I know my husband Ron took video on at least one of the cameras he was given charge of) were planning to upload them as it doesn't seem meetup does the Video thing?
