What the Hell is BCTIA?

The tech scene in Vancouver is alive and thriving. There's many players all putting in work to build an ecosystem.

For a new comer it can be overwhelming. It's alphabet soup worse than American Homeland Security, trying to figure out all the acronyms, what organizations they represent, and what those organizations stand for.

Even after you've been doing this for a while it can be confusing. So we decided to sit down with one of the largest organizations in town, BCTIA and ask them what the hell they do.

Cindy Pearson, is the BCTIA COO and comically honest. She's been through a couple rodeo's and has learned a great deal about making BC a vibrant place for technology companies to take root and grow. Best of all she actually likes Mack, which is a rare thing amongst people who's office is west of Burrard.

Come learn about BCTIA, why they exist, what they do and their plans for the future. Find out what they have to offer you as an entrepreneur.

The evening will be a Late Night talk show format with Mack interviewing Cindy and asking hard questions about BCTIA's mandate, it's effectiveness and it's relevancy.

Don't be surprised if the beer floweth.

    Hey Everybody,

We had two events scheduled for Thursday night.

We've found a way to streamline them.

What the Hell is BCTIA will start at 6:00 (location posted on site later today).

It will be short and punchy, and at 7:00 we'll head up the street to The Pint for APIs and IPAs.

The APIs event will aslo start at 6:00, so if you have no interest in Mack or BCTIA just go right to the Pint, but the point is we'll all make it down there, at least those who are interested, at 7:00.

Last thing- if you want to attend the APIs event you need to sign up here:

Two cool things to do. One night. And now you can have it all. God Bless Pixel Crafters.

If you have any questions, send them my way.

Our office is West of Burrard, and I've got all the love in the world for you Mack. You've got the area wrong though, I think it's West of Seymour, maybe even Richards that don't like you. :P

Yeah but we met in Kelowna. There's enough east in that to compensate. Possibly, it's everybody in this city- I just make myself feel better by pretending Gastown's on my team.
