While all of Vancouver is Christmas shopping, skip that. Have a beer instead. Start drinking early (the good thing is, they serve it in small glasses, not even sure they have pints). Draw that beer. It's a more relaxing way to spend a Saturday afternoon. This tasting room even has some simple food, like cheese, cold cuts, and bread. I am German-born, so those are pretty much my staples. If you're a wheat-free vegan, they have nuts, unless you're a wheat-free vegan who also has a nut allergy. In that case, you will already know how to work it out, I have a friend who is.

There is a large communal table which I am hoping we can take over at that early hour.

If you are not up for beer at 2:00 pm, they do have coffee as well.

Evelyn, our visitor from Melbourne, suggested we each bring a few small, loose pieces of paper (about the size of a business or credit card) and draw 5-minute portraits of each other as one of our sketch options, then give each person their portraits. Feel free to improvise, and I think sketchers are very forgiving of their own drawings, and therefore of others'. Also, it should be entirely voluntary to participate in this exercise.

Bring your own drawing materials, as always.

And be at least 19 years old.

Hope to see you there!

20 out of 22 attended! I may have to revise my expected attendance quotient upwards. Everyone is becoming so unreliable these days by showing up ;)

It's been more like a party this week. Kind of appropriate for the season. Very fun.

I just called them and warned them that there may be 15 of us or so. They said they have some extra pullout tables they can set up if needed. Also that it could be quite busy at 2 pm, or not (not really helpful information). I was counting on most people shopping at that time. See you then!

I'd love to go, this is right up my alley, but I have to work.

OK, I better call them and find how how busy they think it might be at 2 pm on a Saturday. Since there are 19 of us now and the turnout quotient has gone up recently.

Gosh, this is such a busy time of year. I can't make it. Sigrid, let's plan another one of these in the new year. I could plan it. What a concept!
    Have a great time.

This sounds like it should be fun - beer tasting, and drawing beer. German food - great. Yes, 19+ here.

LOL, Sigrid I don't have to have wine. But I could oblige twisting your arm :). Looking forward to the fun.

Just to add - we usually papers the size of credit/bank cards for the 5-min portraits (but totally up to the individuals really).

Thanks, I added that detail above, it's good to limit the time for each portrait, at least then we all have an excuse: "I was rushed." I am free to go on a bender ;)

Oops, I can't make it. :( I'm going back to Victoria for a lecture by Robert Amos this Saturday. See you Wednesday then!

Evelyn, I don't know if they have wine, but I doubt it, since it's a tasting room. If you are up for a longer sketch outing, just have coffee and afterwards we can find a wine bar. You could twist my arm.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
