I've never been here before so not sure where we should meet but the front gates seems reasonable since some people may want to purchase their ticket(s) at that time. If anyone has another suggestion for a meet up spot, please let me know.

I am not sure that this is legal or not.
I'd join Sakura Days with a sketch of Sakura Cherry Blossoms a few days ago. Although I tried I couldn't make a bus trip via a few transfers completed this morning. It was a mistake.

Hi Junichi, we missed you. It was very wet and quite cold, but we had fun anyway.

Rain was too much of a kill joy but I still tried to get to where the Sakura lanes were, since I felt they were supposed to be the essence of the event -- but yeah, my pages got soaked. Good thing there was a Bonsai demo indoors and I had a dry sketch pad left to use. The Bonsai master was Japanese and had 3 of his BC Bonsai Society fellows doing the demo --each working with their own miniature Spruce trees. The demo, he said, is that of a singular "Tree" Bonsai. Next week, he said, would be the demo on making "Forest" Bonsai which he showed us a finished sample of. Anyway, when the Bonsai master saw that there were 2 or 3 of us there, sketching, he remarked that we have to find the "front" of the tree, first, before we even start moving our ink or lead tips. The front of the tree is where the "meaning" of the Bonsai image begins ... interesting, huh? He's really a master :)

Oops ... the "Forest" Bonsai demo would be the day after (not next week). Sorry about that.

All you really need is something to draw with and something to draw on. There are no rules, you can use whatever you like, most people bring a sketchbook and a pen or pencil. Anything you like.

I have just tried to buy a ticket online this morning but found out all the tickets were sold out. Does anyone know whether there are tickets at the gate?

    April 5, 2014

    • Jerry L.

I was trying to do the same thing but I realize in the fine note states that online ticket server was closed by last nite. I do believe ticket will be still available at the gate. Guess we need to save up today morning coffee money.

I will be there but I have signed up for the plein air cherry blossom festival course with Alfonso Tejada which is exactly the same time. You will see a group of painters surrounding a very friendly talented animated Latino artist.
