WordPress 3.5 - An Introduction

A WordPress Meetup in December? Of course. And for good reason:The shiny new WordPress version 3.5 is imminent!

Join us for a walk-through of the new and changed features, the new Twenty Twelve theme, and other WordPress 3.5 related items. The presentations will be followed by a quorum (roundtable) discussion anything and everything WordPress so bring your questions and take part. This meetup is for all levels and for WordPress.com and self-hosted. The presentations on new features and the new theme will be fairly short to leave plenty of room for discussion and comments. If you have specific topics you'd like to discuss during this time, please message Vanessa Chu or Morten (organizers of the group) with your ideas. Or share them when you RSVP. We'll collect all questions and try our best to incorporate them into the discussion.

Also, remember to join the Vancouver WordPress Meetup Group Facebook page and take part in the discussion.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and for heeding my request to bring food for the Food Bank. Many people in need with benefit from your generosity.

At the end of the year I'd also like to extend a special thanks to The Network Hub for hosting our meetup for the year. And finally: if you have an idea for a meetup or want to present at the meetup, use the "suggest a meetup" function on the front page and Vanessa and I will do our best to make it happen. Looking forward to new and exciting things in 2013!

Thanks! Very helpful. Also I had forgotten till last night that IP addresses could be added to the 'banned' or moderated. I have already added a problem IP to my list.

Thanks for to both of you, Morten and Joey, for the presentation last night. Very glad to see up what's almost here, especially for images/media. (I was also wondering about using the new image post?) I really liked what you did with the 2012 theme, Morten, hope you will share that somewhere as I am one of those that needs a look first. And, I do usually update the point WP updates right away,
but I almost always wait a bit when it's a whole new thing. Maybe I'll add that to my resolutions for 2013 - to be bolder at hitting the button and as well to write a few plugin reviews. It's easy now.

unfortunately the space that The Network Hub gives us (for free) has limited capacity. First com first served :)

Like Joachim said, we are restricted by the physical space in the venue. That said we are always working to ensure that as many as possible are able to attend. It's a complicated puzzle.

I couldn't make it to this event tonight but wanted to post a little heads up. My app, WordPress.org for HootSuite App Directory was released just today. If anyone using HootSuite and WordPress, please check it out and give me feedbacks. I would love to keep improving it. Thanks.

What can I say? Some people like Facebook. I'm posting a piece on the site too so people can ask questions there as well. And of course they can ask here if they want. As for Twenty Twelve, it'll be part of the presentation like Joey said. I'll even have a snazzy child theme to show off!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
