Party Room, The Venus
You are cordially invited for an evening of indulgence in poetry, artisan chocolate and fine grape juice (both fermented and not).
It is an evening with Poètes Maudits – the Acursed Poets. The term came in to popular use from the title of a collection of critical and biographical studies complied by the poet Paul Verlaine and published in 1884 that focused on the lives of six French poets of the era. It has evolved to mean brilliant but self-destructive poets misunderstood during their life time by an indifferent society or an artist with a tortured soul living outside the society.
Paul will introduce Poètes Maudits collective and Sylvia, Meharoona and Deepthi will introduce and read one of their favourite accursed poets from the ages. There will be additional readings throughout the night, as well as piano music and the delight of Paul's artisan chocolates.
