If there’s one thing writers do with as much (if not more!) enthusiasm as actual writing, it's giving advice on writing. The internet is teeming with countless bits of writing advice, plus anyone with even the smallest portion of a novel either on their computer or in their soul is guaranteed to have at least one writing how-to book in their house.
But which of these countless writing tips are actually good advice? Which are you better off forgetting you ever heard? That’s what we’ll be discussing at this week’s meetup, in a friendly, relaxed environment.
The discussion kick-starter question is as follows:
“What is the best piece(s) of writing advice you’ve ever read/heard/received, and what is the worst piece(s)?”
Other topics will also be discussed as they arise.
New members welcome! The reservation at the venue is both under my name and that of the Vancouver Writers’ Social Group.
NOTE: We’ll be starting in the Sylvia Hotel’s restaurant, but may move to the bistro or lounge depending upon numbers and seating options. Ask the waitstaff or look for the "Vancouver Writers' Social Group" sign on the table.
